CLMI Group is seeking a Construction Manager III – TDIP Construction Manager to support Los Angeles World Airports’ (LAWA) Terminal Development & Improvement Program (TDIP) at LAX.

The TDIP Construction Manager reports to the assigned project’s project manager and is responsible for managing and coordinating the construction activities of the Construction Contractor (Design/Builder and/or Construction Manager at Risk), acting as the liaison for pre-construction and construction activities, including leading safety, security, and quality for the assigned program.

The Construction Manager manages the scope, cost, schedule, and operational interfaces of all design and construction-related activities, with a focus on schedule certainty, budget delivery, and ensuring construction work meets required quality standards while enforcing a strong health, safety, and environmental culture. The Terminal Development & Improvement Program (TDIP) is a major capital program modernizing LAX’s passenger terminals to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, safety, and connectivity across the airport.

Construction Management & Field Oversight

  • Monitor all on-site field construction activities associated with completion of the project.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of the various disciplines used during construction, as well as the methods and techniques to be used for installation.
  • Ensure construction operations follow approved work plans and Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs) and that all proper notifications are made.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with the contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities to be erected.
  • Ensure all work is performed and inspected to the latest versions of plans and specifications, including approved changes, submittals, and RFIs.
  • Ensure the use of sound and safe construction practices to attain required quality control at maximum efficiency and minimum cost.

Planning, Cost & Schedule Control

  • Work with the Construction Contractor and stakeholders to develop the overall planning of construction activities and identify critical milestones and priorities.
  • Monitor budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
  • Monitor the assignment of manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency, maintain schedules, and meet budget goals.
  • Stay alert to possible problem areas and take preventative action to ensure critical milestones are met for each phase of the project.
  • Prepare periodic reports summarizing the progress of construction activities for higher-level management and clients.

Safety, Quality & Risk Management

  • Lead and enforce a strong health, safety, and environmental culture on the project, well above industry standards.
  • Support the development and implementation of design, construction, testing, commissioning, and turnover plans, including impacts to operations.
  • Ensure risk mitigation for construction activities is optimized and that LAWA standards are adhered to.
  • Review Contractor Potential Change Order claims for merit and negotiate to final resolution.

Stakeholder Coordination & Contract Administration

  • Act as the liaison for pre-construction and construction activities and lead stakeholder engagement to identify, communicate, and resolve needs while preserving project scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
  • Participate in all necessary coordination meetings with the Construction Contractor, trade partners, stakeholders, and LAWA Operations.
  • Ensure effective implementation of all policies and procedures, including project labor agreement policies.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with design and construction professionals through open communication and mutual problem-solving in the best interest of the project.

Requirements

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Ten (10) or more years of construction management experience, preferably on airport projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience on projects greater than $100 million in value.
  • Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design + CMAR, and Design/Build.
  • Knowledge of construction contracting practices and methodologies and of the full construction life cycle, from pre-construction through estimating/buyout, phasing, implementation, and closeout.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
  • Proven ability to perform in a management capacity, with excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Construction management experience in an operating or active airport environment.
  • Familiarity with Project Management Information Systems (PMWeb).
  • Optional professional licensure and/or certifications such as AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, or AICP.
  • Specialized experience emphasizing airport concourse, airport headhouse, or site/civil scope (multiple positions are anticipated).

Benefits

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The salary range for this position is $170,000 - $174,000
