Front Desk & HR Administrator

MCI is a 46-year-old industry leader in the design, manufacture, and assembly of electrical controls, electrical enclosures, irrigation pumps and controls, municipal and commercial pump stations, water purification systems and design-to-order metal fabrications. We serve a variety of industries with standard and custom products including water pumping, oil production-drill and refining controls, wastewater treatment, conveying, baggage conveying, handling, and more!

Job Summary

The Receptionist / HR Administrator performs a combination of front desk reception and human resources administrative support duties. This role serves as the first point of contact for visitors, applicants, and employees while also assisting with routine HR transactions, onboarding coordination, employee support, and office administration. This position is best suited for a professional, service-oriented individual who can communicate clearly, stay organized, handle sensitive information appropriately, and support both employees and guests in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Compensation

$20/hr - $25/hr

Responsibilities

  • Answer and route incoming calls at the front desk and assist callers as needed.
  • Greet visitors, applicants, vendors, and guests and direct them to the appropriate location.
  • Help ensure visitors and guests receive any required personal protective equipment before entering designated areas.
  • Maintain front desk coverage and present a professional, welcoming first impression of the company.
  • Help monitor office supply inventory and place replenishment orders when supplies are running low.
  • Answer basic HR policy and process questions and assist employees with routine administrative needs.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment support, bank account changes, and other standard HR-related forms or updates.
  • Escalate more complex employee issues, policy questions, or workplace concerns to the appropriate HR or management contact.
  • Assist with new hire coordination, including introductory facility tours and supervisor hand-offs.
  • Set up employee badges and support account creation for new and current employees.
  • Maintain HR and administrative records with accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Assist with other HR, administrative, and facility-related initiatives as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of receptionist, administrative, office support, customer service, or HR support experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond professionally to interruptions in a busy office environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a human resources, receptionist, or office administrator role.
  • Experience supporting onboarding, employee paperwork, or benefits-related processes.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, or multi-department business environment.
  • Familiarity with HRIS programs.4
  • Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
