The Marketing Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of events and sponsorship opportunities and support provider marketing initiatives across the Optum New York and New Jersey region. The Specialist is a dynamic and integral member of our marketing team. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including external vendors and organizations, to strengthen our connection with the communities we serve and elevate the awareness of our providers and services.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with experience in event management and provider marketing support, who is proactive, well-organized and highly motivated. The Specialist possess strong communication skills, a passion for their work and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. They should excel at seeking new insights, finding creative solutions, and measuring results, while comfortably collaborating and communicating with business partners and vendors to ensure the successful coordination and execution of events.

If you are located within a commutable distance to Long Island, Hudson Valley, or North Jersey, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee sponsorship events across the region, ensuring they align with regional and business priorities. Serve as the primary point of contact for all sponsorship and event-related requests
  • Develop and integrate engaging activities to boost participation and engagement at events
  • Encourage increased participation by internal teams through effective communication and motivation
  • Organize on-site logistics, including materials about Optum services, giveaways, contests and more
  • Collaborate with provider marketing to offer support related to events and sponsorship marketing, as well as highlighting provider achievements and awards across the organization
  • Coordinate with volunteers to ensure smooth on-site operations
  • Lead meetings with detailed presentations for on-site expectations to all relevant parties
  • Secure events by managing contracts and ensuring that all legal and financial aspects are handled efficiently
  • Manage budgets for events, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial guidelines
  • Build and refine our sponsorship program for the year ahead, keeping regional and business priorities in mind
  • Regularly communicate with key business partners, such as practice managers, to ensure alignment and timely delivery of requests
  • Utilize project management systems (e.g., Workfront, Asana) to ensure workflows and projects remain on task and lead assigned projects from start to finish
  • Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional teams, developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years of project management experience or Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing, advertising or related field
  • 2+ years project management experience
  • Proven solid writing/communications skills
  • Proven solid organizational skills
  • Proven ability to commute to events and offices in New Jersey, Long Island, and Hudson Valley

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with marketing project management systems (Workfront/Asana)
  • Event management experience
  • Proven keen attention to detail and strong project management skills with a track record of managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Proven self-starter with the ability to balance and execute multiple projects concurrently

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
