Project Manager - Healthcare Construction at AlphaHire
We are hiring a Project Manager to lead healthcare and commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
We are specifically looking for a commercial construction professional who has managed healthcare renovations, medical facilities, or projects performed inside occupied clinical environments. This person must understand the additional planning, communication, infection-control requirements, and phasing involved when construction takes place around active patients, staff, and ongoing facility operations.
The Project Manager will own project execution, financial performance, subcontractor coordination, schedule management, and client communication across multiple active projects. This is not a Project Engineer or support-level position. The person hired must be able to independently manage projects, anticipate risks, and maintain accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Manage healthcare and commercial projects from preconstruction, buyout, and mobilization through completion and closeout
- Maintain project budgets, forecasts, schedules, procurement plans, contracts, change orders, and subcontractor performance
- Coordinate with Superintendents, owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and facility representatives throughout construction
- Lead owner and subcontractor meetings while maintaining clear documentation, reporting, and follow-up
- Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and project changes to identify risks before they affect cost or schedule
- Visit project sites as needed to monitor execution, resolve issues, and support field leadership
Requirements
- 3+ years of Project Manager experience with a commercial general contractor
- Direct healthcare construction experience required
- Experience managing renovations or construction inside occupied hospitals, medical facilities, or active healthcare environments strongly preferred
- Understanding of ICRA protocols, infection-control procedures, phasing, shutdown coordination, and healthcare facility requirements
- Strong experience with project financials, cost forecasting, subcontract administration, scheduling, procurement, and change management
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects and communicate professionally with clients and project stakeholders
- Willingness to travel to project sites approximately twice per month, including overnight travel when necessary
Benefits
Competitive salary based on experience, plus performance-based bonus opportunities, health insurance, retirement plan options, paid time off, and additional company-sponsored benefits.
This role is best suited for a hands-on Project Manager who understands healthcare construction, can operate effectively inside occupied facilities, and is prepared to take full ownership of project performance from planning through closeout.
