Job Summary
The Production Lead is responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations, supporting manufacturing workflow, coordinating staffing and scheduling needs, maintaining quality and safety standards, training employees, and ensuring production on-time delivery goals are met.
Key Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision, the Production Lead is responsible for:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and hands-on support to employees within department.
- Direct employee activities to ensure clear communication, accurate workflow, and seamless operations.
- Ensure team members follow all production processes, procedures, priorities, and quality requirements.
- Confirm that all job components, materials, and production requirements are available and properly located.
- Ensure all required signoffs, shift reports, and production documentation are completed accurately.
- Monitor equipment operation during production; identify, troubleshoot, and escalate
- equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Distribute work based on employee knowledge, skill level, and production priorities.
- Communicate effectively with other Leads to ensure workflow continuity.
- Provide training on processes and equipment.
- Develop and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area using safety standards and expectations
- Other duties as needed or assigned by supervisor.
Required Skills
- Promote employee efficiency, teamwork, accountability, and morale through positive leadership.
- Ability to timely deal with and solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to compare, compute, compile, and analyze production documentation and requirements.
- Demonstrated understanding of production lines, processes, and manufacturing workflows.
- Prior experience leading and coaching small teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Working knowledge of ERP system (e.g. Made2Manage) for job order tracking, labor entry, and WIP updates.
- Understanding of OSHA safety standards and safe manufacturing practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in clean room protocols or packaging and assembly.
- Knowledge of quality standards including ISO 9001, AS9100, and/or GMP requirements
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S methodology, and Kaizen continuous improvement practices.
- Prior experience using hand tools, measuring devices, and electrical test devices.
- Blueprint reading experience.
- Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
Education Requirements
- High School Degree or General Education Degree; or three (3) to five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years of clean room or packaging experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent use of hands for handling small components and tools.
- Ability to perform similar operations and tasks for 6-8 hours.
- Ability to sit and stand for 6 to 8 hours.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to perform visual inspection to perform close‑up inspection tasks for 4 to 6 hours.
Working Conditions
- Work performed indoors in environmentally controlled and cleanroom environments.
- Required use of PPE including, safety glasses, and safety toed footwear.
- While performing the duties of this job, will regularly be exposed to moving high-speed machinery and mechanical parts. Will occasionally exposed to machine oils and hazardous materials.
