Social Service Manager - Safety at Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services
This Opportunity is for a Social Services Manager -- Safety with a work location in Hinds County MS.
About the Position
Social Service Manager accountable for the oversight of social service activities of a facility or program. Accountable for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating programs and evaluating the effectiveness of these programs. Develops procedures and administrative policies and administers program budget. At this level, employee serves on an agency leadership team and investigate reports of maltreatment of children in foster care, including safety and risk assessment. Investigates child fatalities that meet the standard criteria for investigations. Conduct historical checks of records in current operating system to determine if participants in the report have had prior historical involvement. Prepare for and attend court hearings on investigations completed. Attend and present an administrative appeal hearing. Participate in collaborative team meetings; communicate with all relevant parties throughout the course of the investigation. Attend forensic interviews and or autopsies. On call after work hours and on weekends in designated coverage area. Document initial and ongoing work in accordance with established protocols, practices, and policies. Upload completed investigations and all supportive documents to share drive. Send out notifications to the court and other pertinent individuals at the end of the investigation. Serve as peer support for new and transferring staff. Attend weekly team meetings and individual staff meetings. Collaborate with law enforcement and other stakeholders during the investigation. Routine travel in personal vehicle. Initiate investigations in other areas of the state beyond your work area in times of need.

Preferred Qualifications
- This is a non-state service X16 position. ** Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, social services, psychology, educational psychology, sociology, nursing, criminal justice, counseling, marriage and family therapy, family studies, or a related field. 5+ years of experience, and 2-3 years of supervisory experience. Will require a MS social worker's license.
