Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer
This role combines hands-on mechanical engineering with project leadership to drive product development from concept through production. The Mechanical Project Engineer leads mechanical engineering efforts, manages timelines and budgets, and ensures designs meet performance, manufacturability, cost, and quality requirements. The position requires a strong design background, proven experience leading teams and projects, and the ability to work cross-functionally across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering projects through all phases, from concept and detailed design to prototyping and full production release.
- Develop, update, and maintain 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks to support product development.
- Create and manage comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, deliverables, and Gantt charts to track progress.
- Proactively identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and take action to minimize delays and keep projects on track.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of project management experience within an engineering environment.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and mechanical engineering validation activities.
Work Environment
The role operates in an engineering-focused environment that integrates design, prototyping, and production support. You will regularly use SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and drawings, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations. The position involves a mix of office-based design work and hands-on activities in labs or shop areas for prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting. Work typically follows standard business hours, with flexibility as needed to meet project milestones and support critical development or production activities. The environment emphasizes structured project planning, risk management, and continuous improvement to deliver high-quality, manufacturable products.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Simi Valley, CA.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.70 - $67.30/hr.
