A Development Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and executing community-based fundraising initiatives that engage individuals, teams, organizations, and volunteers in support of the UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation's mission. This role supports the growth of peer-to-peer fundraising, third-party events, and volunteer-driven campaigns by providing project coordination, participant support, and relationship management to advance revenue and engagement goals.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the planning, coordination, and execution of community fundraising initiatives, including peer-to-peer campaigns, third-party events, and volunteer-led activities, aligned with the Foundation’s annual revenue and donor engagement goals. Serves as a primary point of contact for community fundraisers, providing guidance, resources, and support to enhance their fundraising success and overall experience.

  • Collaborates with Foundation leadership and cross-functional teams to align community fundraising efforts with organizational priorities, including signature events and broader engagement strategies. Assists in onboarding, stewardship, and retention of community fundraisers, volunteers, and partners, contributing to long-term relationship development and increased participation.

  • Coordinates and manages assigned projects and fundraising activities from planning through execution, ensuring timelines, communications, and deliverables are effectively managed. Supports volunteer engagement efforts, including team captains, community ambassadors, and participant groups, to strengthen program reach and impact.

  • Maintains accurate records of fundraiser, donor, and participant activity within the Foundation’s database and assists with tracking revenue, participation, and engagement metrics to inform program performance. Participates in Foundation events and community activities as appropriate and supports all phases of department initiatives as needed.

  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, liberal arts, journalism, business or related field and 2 years of experience
    • OR 6 years of experience in Development, communications, business, special event management, volunteer management, corporate community relations or related field.
  • Experience with development and/or fundraising in a health care, education or community non-profit setting preferred.
  • Ability to independently manage projects and events from concept to completion.
  • An understanding of how to develop strategic goals and define metrics for program areas.
  • Experience working with volunteers and volunteer boards.
  • Ability to develop and manage an overall program budget and an events budget.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team to fulfill goals of the department.
  • Adept at developing and providing compelling presentations to large groups - public speaking experience helpful.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and problem-solving skills and the ability to work with many different people such as donors, volunteers, trustees, vendors and staff.
  • Ability to present a professional image of the hospital and articulate mission and values of the hospital.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines.
  • Team oriented; works well within group situations.
  • Ability to work professionally in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and pacing.
  • High level of enthusiasm, initiative, motivation and self-direction.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 31 / Act 33 / Act 34 / Act 73 with renewal
