CLMI Group is seeking an Office Engineer I to support the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Terminal Development & Improvement Program (TDIP) within the Central Terminal Area (CTA) Curbside Improvement Program (TDIP-107).

The Office Engineer I reports to the CTA Curbside Improvement Project Manager and provides broad technical and administrative support for all design and construction-related activities. The program focuses on the Arrivals curbside area across the entire CTA – from terminal entry doors out to the outer island pick-up zone – encompassing improvements from the curbside to garage facades and landscape zones in between. The position supports submittal and RFI management as well as overall construction management support for the project team.

Office Engineer I

Document Control & Submittal Management

  • Assist in the receipt, distribution, and maintenance of submittals; perform construction contract correspondence, document and plan control functions, and input data into PMWeb.
  • Update and maintain submittal and RFI logs in PMWeb; track and compile review comments, obtain management approval, and issue responses to contractors in a timely manner.
  • Maintain project files and document/submittal management systems in both hard copy and electronic formats.
  • Coordinate with contractors to ensure drawings are posted efficiently and in a timely manner; distribute documents, submittals, and RFIs for review.

Construction Management Support

  • Prepare and maintain management information status reports as required; prepare and maintain an expediting log and perform expediting functions.
  • Attend and document project meetings; write agendas and meeting minutes and distribute to project team.
  • Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings.
  • Support the project management team (project manager, assistant PM, construction manager, design manager) with additional duties as assigned.
  • May be required to work after hours or on weekends to fulfill the duties of the position; such work is considered part of the salaried compensation.

Stakeholder Coordination & Communication

  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with design and construction professionals, fostering open communication and mutual problem solving in the best interest of the project and all parties involved.
  • Contribute to a high level of team morale through professionalism that reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders, and LAWA/internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with contractors, design teams, and LAWA stakeholders to support operational interfaces and construction phasing in an active airport environment.

Requirements

Required Experience

  • 5 or more years of full-time, paid professional experience in construction management or engineering, preferably on airport or large-scale public agency projects.
  • Experience on projects with a total value exceeding $50 million.
  • Experience with various project delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR, and Design/Build.
  • Knowledge of design and construction contracting practices, methodologies, and the full project lifecycle from concept through closeout, including design phase, permitting, pre-construction, and closeout.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an active/operating environment with construction phasing and operational constraints.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience on airport or aviation construction programs strongly preferred; familiarity with LAX, LAWA, or TDIP projects and operational environment is a significant plus.
  • Experience with landscaping, curbside, or civil/site improvement projects within an operational public-use facility preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple data sources and document management systems to create cohesive, accurate project records and reports for stakeholders.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field required.

Preferred Licenses & Certifications

  • Relevant professional licensure and/or certification strongly preferred. Optional certifications may include: AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, or any other relevant Professional Licensure or Certifications.

Hardware/Software Knowledge

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Proficient in Bluebeam required.
  • Experience with PMWeb preferred.

Benefits

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $95,000
