Territory Sales Representative (Power & Electrical Industry) at D2B Groups
Our client is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to drive business development and revenue growth within their commercial backup power division. This individual will focus on developing relationships with electrical contractors, general contractors, engineers, and commercial end users to identify, develop, and close sales opportunities for standby generator systems and related power solutions.
This role is ideal for a motivated sales professional who enjoys building long-term customer relationships, developing new business, and working in a growing, essential industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, cold calling, referrals, and jobsite visits.
- Build and maintain relationships with electrical contractors, consulting engineers, general contractors, facility managers, and commercial property owners.
- Identify customer needs and recommend commercial standby generator systems, automatic transfer switches (ATS), and related backup power solutions.
- Manage opportunities from initial contact through proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
- Collaborate with estimating, engineering, project management, and operations teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Prepare and present proposals, quotations, and solution recommendations.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurately track opportunities using CRM software.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade associations, and networking opportunities.
- Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies within the backup power industry.
- Consistently achieve or exceed established sales goals and performance expectations.
Requirements
Qualifications
3+ years of successful outside B2B sales experience.
Demonstrated success developing new business and managing customer relationships.
Experience selling to electrical contractors, commercial contractors, industrial customers, or within the construction industry is strongly preferred.
Experience in one or more of the following industries is highly desirable:
- Commercial generators
- Electrical distribution
- Switchgear
- Power distribution
- Industrial equipment
- HVAC
- Building automation
- Construction products or services
Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office.
