Vice President for Finance and Administration

POSITION DETAILS

The Vice President is responsible for one or more major College divisions and serves as a member of the President's Cabinet. The Vice President incorporates innovative practices into plans and strategies and collaborates with other College and University executives, and outside organizations as needed, to develop appropriate policy and acquire resources. He/she is a dynamic leader of an executive team responsible for Finance and Budget operations, Facilities, and Public Safety.

Queensborough Community College (QCC), located in Bayside, Queens, is one of the 24 institutions, including seven community colleges, within The City University of New York, the nation’s largest urban public university. Established in 1958, QCC confers the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and the Associate in Applied Science degrees, and offers Certificate Programs in various career areas. It offers over 30 programs in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering Technologies, Art & Humanities, Health Related Sciences, and Education.

The College is searching for an experienced administrative and financial leader. Reporting to the College President, the Vice President for Finance and Administration serves as a member of the President's Cabinet. As the College's Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President will develop, implement, and direct the financial and administrative policies of the College. Responsibilities include oversight of operational and capital budgets, as well as for campus operations and facilities. The following are among the areas and departments that report to the Vice President for Finance and Administration: Buildings and Grounds; Campus Facilities; Procurement; Assets Management and Central Receiving; Transportation; Public Safety and Security; Environmental Health & Safety; Business and Fiscal Management; Treasury Management; Budget; Bursar; Accounts Payable; Accounting; and Related Entities . The Vice President serves on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of the Queensborough Community College Enterprise Association, Inc. and the Queensborough Community College Student Activities Association, Inc. The Vice President also provides oversight and supports the QCC Fund, Inc. (a separate non-for-profit business entity with its own Board of Directors). The Vice President also serves on a number of College committees, working closely with faculty governance, as well as on numerous CUNY committees/councils.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eight years of progressively responsible experience and proven leadership in the areas of budget development, financial management, and administrative operations

  • Master’s degree in related field preferred

  • Leadership experience in a higher education setting

  • Demonstrated success in senior-level management covering a broad portfolio

  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a collaborative, comprehensive leader who works effectively across diverse teams and functions with differing priorities in support of the College’s shared goals and strategic vision

  • Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work as an active and collegial member of the President’s Cabinet, partnering with fellow Vice Presidents, campus counsel, and other senior leaders to advance institutional priorities

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and engage effectively with leaders, faculty, staff, and other constituencies at all levels of the College

  • Knowledge of architectural and engineering planning, design, and construction and physical plant management, including management of many architectural and engineering firms that are engaged to implement major facilities projects

  • Experience with energy, environmental health, safety, and security issues in facilities planning and operation

  • Comfortable with a broad range of public and private financing methods for capital projects and public- private partnerships

  • Experience overseeing institutional operational areas such as procurement/purchasing, public safety, asset management, and auxiliary or affiliated entities

  • Experience working with affiliated entities such as foundations, enterprise associations, or student-related organizations

  • Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks applicable to higher education administration

  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary commensurate with education and experience. Salary range: $ 200,000 - $ 220,000
