Sous Chef/Line Cook at Western Daughters Butcher Shop
Western Daughters Butcher Shop & Wine Bar is a whole-animal butcher shop and natural wine bar and restaurant in the LoHi Neighborhood of Denver, owned by Kate Kavanaugh, Josh Curtiss, and Noah Heaney. We employ a philosophy of land stewardship and sustainable and humane standards to bring delicious meat to tables all across the state. We source 100% grass-fed and pasture-raised animals directly from farms and ranches, working to build communities in Colorado and the local ecosystem every step of the way from farm to table. We are looking for a responsible, energetic, and self motivated person for a full time position. Duties will include kitchen prep, line cook, customer interaction, cold station cook, sausage making, light meat cutting, helping customers with meat choices and cooking instruction, taking orders, and end of day closing, which includes dishes, sweeping, and mopping. Weekend and holiday availability is a must. This position is perfect for someone looking work their way up in a great 13 year old company with a healthy work environment. That means that you never leave work later than midnight or have to arrive earlier than 7 AM and we strive for everyone to have two days off in a row. We prefer that you have some knowledge of meat and skill in cooking/kitchen prep coupled with an extreme willingness and passion to learn. Most important are your customer service skills and ability to work in a high-volume and high-end retail/kitchen setting. We are looking for a team member that wants to grow and learn with our small company. We ask that you have weekend and holiday availability and some prior kitchen, retail, or service experience. Ideal candidates will be able to lift 50+ pounds, be responsible and self-driven with a keen eye for detail, be a fun and supportive team member in a close-knit crew, and be eager to learn the ins and outs of not only meat but our regional food system.
