Job Purpose & Scope
Responsible for contributing to the overall quality of Market Risk Management across the Bank, working in the second line of defense, to provide analytics support for the monitoring of the Bank’s Interest Rate and Liquidity Risk exposure. As a member of the Bank’s overall Enterprise Risk Management team, this position will also have the opportunity to work in analytics across ERM verticals which monitor risk across various other Basel risk categories (e.g. Strategic Risk, Credit Risk, Operational Risk etc.).
Essential Job Functions
- Monitors the Bank’s Market Risk exposure related to Asset Liability Management (ALM), investment and trading portfolio activities and funding and liquidity risks, developing daily, monthly, and quarterly analysis for reporting to the 2 nd and 1 st lines of defense.
- Continuously monitors Key Risks and related Key Risk Indicators to ensure the business is operating within stated Risk Appetite and taking appropriate action to respond to Risk Appetite breaches.
- Provides effective challenge by assessing the plausibility of the Bank’s inputs, assumptions, and results of its ALM solution (Empyrean).
- Performs advanced queries (SQL) against existing data repositories and utilizes technical analyses to support Corporate Risk Management’s view of Market and Liquidity Risk at the enterprise level.
- Performs control testing for operational processes related to the Bank’s Market and Liquidity risk areas.
- Proactively analyzes various data sources to form an independent assessment/opinion of market and liquidity risk.
- Designs independent methodologies to regenerate existing key risk indicators or to gauge the integrity of the key risk indicators related to Market and Liquidity Risk, as provided by the designated risk owner.
- Leverages existing or creates new supplemental measures that support and inform key risk indicators to provide greater transparency around risk triggers and risk drivers.
- Documents workflows and procedures supporting the governance related measuring, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting risk in the context of the risk appetite framework.
- Provides independent analytics support to the Market Risk team using tools such as SAS, R, Python, PL/SQL, Power BI, etc.
- Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge in SAS, VBA, R, Python, PL/SQL and/or Power BI.
- Knowledge of banking operations and financial services .
- Knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, statistics, or mathematics, or commensurate work experience, required; Master’s degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of work experience as an analyst in a financial institution preferred.
