Job Summary

Team Services Advisors are USA Swimming's boots on the ground and serve as the direct, personal link between the national organization and clubs. Each club in America has a dedicated advisor who provides an immediate and direct link to USA Swimming through in-person visits, virtual support, phone calls, and electronic communication. Advisors assist with club operations, coaching support, and sustainable growth, retention, and performance — empowering clubs to become stronger organizations that better serve their athletes, coaches, volunteers, and families.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the dedicated Advisor for teams as assigned
  • Develop and implement initiatives consistent with Mission and Vision of USA Swimming
  • Organize and deliver resources to USA Swimming teams that promote membership growth, retention, and performance through staff education on long term athlete development
  • Identify and address barriers and challenges for clubs by creating resources and utilizing USA Swimming committees and internal staff.
  • Encourage coach voice and participation in LSC and USA Swimming governance.
  • Work collaboratively with other USA Swimming staff members and divisions to facilitate the coordination and integration of USA Swimming services and programs fostering cross company collaboration that ensures excellent teamwork and communication.
  • Connect clubs and coaches with USA Swimming Programs and Services such as SWIMS Data, USA Swimming University, Safe Sport Recognition Program and Block Party.
  • Model behaviors that support and demonstrate commitment to organizational values

Other Duties

  • Travel domestically to visit clubs in each LSC assigned to the advisor annually to provide tools to clubs that promote growth, retention, and performance; eliminate identified barriers; promote good governance; and build positive relationships with key stakeholders like facility owners
  • Attend major competitions and in-person education opportunities as identified by the Lead Team Service Advisor and the Director of Sport Development
  • Serve as staff liaison for one or more USA Swimming Committees
  • Communicate membership feedback to internal stakeholders
  • Provide coach development tools to members by leading Coaching Networks calls, and USA Swimming flagship programs like Coach Developer Academy, Coach Leadership and Women in Governance
  • Consult with clubs within assigned LSC’s providing resources and support for the long-term health and success of the club. Specific deliverables include a monthly email blast, promoting Block Party, doing quarterly check-in with clubs in New Club Success program and teams experiencing a Head Coach transition as identified in SWIMS.
  • Collaborate with teammates to implement internal programs like Club Excellence, Age Group Excellence, and the USA Swimming Job Board
  • Identify, organize, and deliver best practices of high performing USA Swimming clubs to provide support, resources and services that contribute to the overall team success in growth, retention, and performance. Key areas include but are not limited to business operations, club governance, parent education, coach development, athlete development, and promoting positive relationships with facility owners
  • Directly support USA Swimming in person programs and camps by facilitating the delivery of technical and non-technical content to clubs and members. These events include but are not limited to Zone Select Camp, National Select camp, and National Diversity Select Camp
  • Organize and facilitate USA Swimming event activations at major USA swimming events: National Competitive Events, Aquazone, International Water Safety Day, etc.
  • Other duties, as assigned

  • Proficient with technology and ability to expand knowledge base, especially with the following programs: Microsoft Office Suite, Customer Relationship Management, SWIMS 3.0 Database, Club Portal, and LMS Platform.
  • Ability to work collaboratively. and be an innovative and motivated contributor.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sports management, related field, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in working in the sport of swimming as a coach or program administrator. High performance coaching at a senior or age group level is preferred.
  • Subject matter expert in an area specific to Sport Development Key Performance Indicators.
  • Experience with club governance including non-profit board governance, and institution operations (YMCA, Parks and Rec, etc.).
  • Experience with or understanding of National Governing Bodies (NGB) structures, roles, objectives, membership, and club culture in relation to the Olympic movement and athlete relations

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to travel, both domestically and internationally, up to 35% of the year.
  • Must be able to lift up to ten (10) pounds.
  • This position works in an office setting in the USA Swimming headquarters office in Colorado Springs, CO; Candidates who live within the assigned territory, with reasonable access to airline transportation, are allowed to work remotely. Occasional required travel to CO will be required, based on organizational need

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 annually.
  • Bonus Eligibility: Based on company performance, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus target of 7.50%.
