General Summary

The VP, Accounting Manager will have a key role in overseeing the Bank's day‑to‑day accounting operations, month‑end close, financial and regulatory reporting, account reconciliations and related functions. This position oversees accounting staff, ensures compliance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements, maintains strong internal controls and supports the management of the Accounting Department.

DIRECT REPORTS

This position will manage a Staff Accountant.

Essential Functions

  • Manage and support the Bank’s month end, quarter end, and year end financial close processes.
  • Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
  • Review accounting activity from subledgers, ensure accurate posting and integration into the general ledger and assist in resolving discrepancies between operational systems and accounting records.
  • Support financial systems and GL interface maintenance, updates and integrations.
  • Manage preparation and review of balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Support the accounting for subsidiaries of the Bank and Bancrop, including consolidation processes and documentation.
  • Manage the expense reimbursement process.
  • Oversee preparation and review of the annual Form 571-L filings for all branches/departments.
  • Manage and execute daily, weekly, and monthly regulatory reports, including but not limited to FFIEC-009, FR-2900, FR-2644 and FR-2420.
  • Execute recurring accounting processes such as lease and investment accounting, including journal entries, schedules, and reconciliations.
  • Manage the RSU tracking schedules and prepare the average dilutive shares calculations and monthly related expense journal entries.
  • Support the process of compiling schedules and reports for various sections of the SEC 10Q and 10K filings and Call Report, FR-Y9C and FR-YLP.
  • Support preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly internal financial reporting packages, including variance analysis and commentary for management and various committees.
  • Serve as an accounting liaison for internal and external audits, and regulatory examinations, ensuring timely responses to auditor inquiries, and compliance with internal controls.
  • Support the development and enforcement of internal controls (SOX compliance).
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff by setting goals, managing performance, preparing annual performance reviews, and providing ongoing training and support.
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and special projects assigned by the CFO, CAO and Controller.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields required.
  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in banking or financial services. Working knowledge of accounting procedures, reconciliations, financial and regulatory reporting and financial close and general ledger oversight. Supervisory experience required. Public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Skills/Ability: Proficiency with Oracle PeopleSoft, IBS and SAP highly preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control best practices. Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, LOOKUPs, and data analysis tools. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.

Other Details

$114,400 – $120,000 / year

Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
