This position will be supporting Prescott's Inc and will be hybrid at our Kansas City, MO location.
The Tax & Treasury Specialist is a newly created role supporting Prescott's finance transformation. This position is the operational backbone of the company's tax compliance and treasury functions — two areas that have historically rested entirely on one senior leader. As Prescott's scales and the finance organization restructures, this role will absorb the day-to-day execution of all State and Local Sales tax filings, treasury operations, cash management, and banking relationships across all entities.
You will work directly with the Divisional Controller and the CFO on time-sensitive deadlines — tax filings, banking transitions, and ERP implementation — from day one.
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Support sales tax compliance across multi-state operations for all entities including reconciliations and registrations
- Assist with the preparation of supporting schedules for federal, state, and local tax income & franchise returns for all entities
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors; prepare supporting schedules and workpapers
- Maintain tax calendars; track all filing deadlines across jurisdictions
- Research and apply tax regulations relevant to medical device distribution and service businesses
- Monitor changes in tax law and assess impact on Prescott's Medical entities
Treasury & Cash Management
- Execute cash positioning, funding, and wire transfers across all bank accounts
- Manage banking relationships; serve as primary operational contact for all banking partners
- Support the ongoing bank transition — a current priority requiring immediate hands-on involvement
- Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts and variance analysis; report to Divisional Controller
- Maintain and reconcile all treasury accounts; ensure accuracy of bank reconciliations
- Monitor and manage investment of idle cash in accordance with company policy
ERP & Systems Support
- Participate in the ERP implementation project as the Finance lead for tax and treasury workstreams
- Lead the Avalara implementations for the entities not currently using Avalara in conjunction with their ERP implementations
- Configure and validate tax codes, banking integrations, and chart of accounts mappings in the ERP
- Document treasury and tax procedures in the new system environment
Reporting & Controls
- Prepare monthly treasury reports for leadership: cash balances, liquidity, debt service
- Maintain documentation of tax positions, elections, and compliance history
- Support internal controls over treasury operations — dual authorization, segregation of duties
- Assist with year-end close activities related to tax provisions and deferred tax schedules
Requirements
Required
- High school diploma or GED required
- 5+ years of experience in tax compliance, treasury operations, or public accounting
- Working knowledge of multi-state sales tax filing requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with multi-entity or multi-state tax compliance
- Eligible to work in the United States
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
- CPA license or active CPA candidate
- Exposure to banking operations, cash management, or treasury systems
- Background in healthcare, medical equipment, or distribution industry
- Experience with accounting or ERP systems, including NetSuite and Avalara
- ERP implementation experience
