About The Sioux Falls Stampede

The Sioux Falls Stampede is a Tier I junior hockey team competing in the United States Hockey League (USHL), North America’s premier junior hockey league. A four-time Clark Cup Champion and multiple-time USHL Organization of the Year recipient, the Stampede consistently rank among the leaders in attendance across junior, collegiate, and minor professional hockey. The team plays its home games at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, averages 5,300 fans per game, and has helped develop more than 40 players who have advanced to the NHL.

Position Summary

The Manager of Communications & Digital Marketing is responsible for leading the organization's digital presence, content strategy, and media relations efforts. This individual serves as the primary storyteller for the Stampede brand, helping oversee and develop social media, digital marketing, graphic design, video production, public relations, and fan engagement initiatives.

Working collaboratively across all departments, the Manager of Communications & Digital Marketing will develop and execute creative content strategies that drive fan engagement, support sponsorship objectives, enhance the game-day experience, and elevate the Stampede brand throughout the season.

This position will work in the Stampede front office on a daily basis, attend home games and events, as well as remotely cover road games.

Essential Responsibilities

Digital Media & Content Creation

Manage all Stampede social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging platforms.

  • Create engaging, informative, and entertaining content that reflects the Stampede brand.
  • Stay current on digital trends, platform updates, and best practices to ensure content remains innovative and relevant.
  • Monitor social media channels and engage with fans in a timely and professional manner, even outside of normal office hours.
  • Plan, create, publish, and analyze content performance across all digital platforms.

Graphic Design & Creative Services

  • Design high-quality, on-brand graphics using Adobe Creative Suite for social media, digital advertising, in-arena displays, sponsorship materials, print collateral, schedules, and other organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Game Operations to develop graphics, animations, and video content for use on the video board and throughout the game presentation.
  • Maintain consistency in visual identity and brand standards across all platforms.

Video Production

Produce, edit, and distribute video content, including game highlights, player and coach interviews, feature stories, promotional campaigns, and sponsorship activations.

  • Capture content during games, practices, community events, and team activities.
  • Assist in the development of creative video concepts that enhance fan engagement and storytelling.

Media Relations & Communications

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the organization, media outlets, the USHL, and other stakeholders.
  • Update Stampede website and mobile app with latest stories, advertisements, etc.
  • Write and distribute press releases, game recaps, feature stories, media advisories, and other communications materials.
  • Coordinate interviews, press conferences, and media requests involving players, coaches, and team personnel.
  • Maintain accurate team statistics, records, and media resources as needed.

Marketing & Revenue Support

  • Assist in the planning and execution of email marketing campaigns, promotional initiatives, and digital advertising efforts.
  • Help develop sponsor-integrated digital campaigns and support partnership activation strategies.
  • Collaborate on sponsorship proposals and presentations when needed.
  • Opportunity to participate in outbound sales efforts and earn commission through new business development.

Game Day Operations

  • Support all home game communications and content initiatives.
  • Assist with FloHockey broadcasts, line charts, statistical reporting, and other game-day responsibilities.
  • Provide real-time social media coverage and content creation during games.
  • Attend all home games and provide remote coverage for all away games throughout the season.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, creative, and highly organized professional with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience creating professional graphics using Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
  • Experience managing social media accounts and developing digital content strategies.
  • Knowledge of video production, photography, and content creation best practices.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and non-traditional hours throughout the hockey season.
  • Passion for sports, storytelling, and fan engagement preferred.
  • Experience in sports communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field preferred.
