Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa is a Jesus Formed Community on Mission.
Community, Formation and Mission are the three main ways that we believe we are to live out our discipleship to Jesus. We believe that through Gospel teaching, training, and resources, God’s people are enabled to take their discipleship into their own hands. The ministry began with the church located in Costa Mesa, CA and has flourished and expanded into a multifaceted ministry whose influence has reached to the ends of the earth. We have now re-focused as a local Church-centered organization with a goal of forming, resourcing and educating followers of Jesus.
Calvary Chapel Schools (CCS) was established to meet the educational, social, and spiritual needs of the children of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa. CCS is a ministry of CCCM, building up Christian leaders in mind, body, and soul through Biblical truth, character development, and strong academic pursuits, enabling students to serve and enjoy Christ and their community.

Position Purpose / Summary
As the Middle and High School Art teacher, you would be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing a robust instructional program that would guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their academic, artistic and spiritual potential. The ideal candidate will have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. They will be a minister of the Gospel in this position by ministering and praying for and with the students and parents as well as being an example to the staff, students, and parents.
Responsibilities and Duties

- Be an example to those with whom you come in contact and with whom you serve by exuding the love of Christ. Understanding that it is a privilege to serve the Lord in vocational ministry and that those who serve God on staff at CCCM are expected to embrace a high biblical, Christ-like standard of conduct and lifestyle, both public and personal
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to facilitate active learning at a high standard of excellence. Establishes and communicates clear objectives to meet the needs of all learners.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures. Using relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, working with three-dimensional materials and art history
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines; to develop both aesthetic understandings and appreciation as well as to discover and develop talents of students in the field of art
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
- Provide appropriate feedback on work.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
- Actively collaborates with colleagues in the capacity of a professional educator in our learning community, contributing to the culture through assigned duties, like committee membership, and co-curricular program involvement.
- Participate in department, school and parent meetings.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- Prepare classroom for class activities.
- Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills and Ability Required
- B.A./B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching
- California State certification in teaching in appropriate subject area.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
- Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
- Meet professional teacher education requirements of the school.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand for extended periods of time; walk; bend; lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required include soft and loud sounds.
