Job Title: Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT)

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) to provide direct patient care for individuals receiving behavioral health and psychiatric services. The LPT will assist in implementing treatment plans, monitor patient conditions, administer medications, promote a safe therapeutic environment, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Active Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license or LVN/LPN license in the state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), TEAM, or equivalent behavioral management certification
  • Previous psychiatric, behavioral health, or mental health experience preferred
  • Strong communication, observation, de-escalation, and patient care skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Monitor, assess, and document patients' physical, emotional, and behavioral status.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility policies.
  • Utilize therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques to promote a safe treatment environment.
  • Assist with patient admissions, discharges, assessments, and orientation.
  • Monitor patients for safety, behavioral changes, and response to treatment, reporting significant findings promptly.
  • Support therapeutic, educational, and recreational activities as part of patient treatment plans.
  • Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatment plans, safety, and coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, infection prevention, and organizational policies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
