Your assignment

The Director of Warehouse Operations is responsible for the leadership, effectiveness, efficiency, safety and cleanliness of warehouse operations and company-owned facilities in Grand Rapids, MI, Austell, GA and Syracuse, NY, along with 3PL locations in Texas, California and Missouri.

This leader will be a forward-thinking distribution and logistics expert who ensures warehouse operations are optimized to current benchmark standards. They set standards, create plans and lead projects that lean out workflows and operations with buy-in and support from their teams. They also do the work of the teams as needed to achieve goals. They partner with other department/functional leaders and other members of the operations team to understand and achieve the overall company goals for operations.

Essential Duties

  • Effectively hire, train, onboard, develop and lead a strong team of Warehouse Managers/Supervisors, Pickers/Hi-Lo Drivers, Inventory and Packaging Specialists.
  • Conduct continuous improvements audits and projects to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the warehouse.
  • Assess shipping and receiving needs of each day and strategically allocate the team and other needed resources to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Reconcile inventory across the Agility and Epicor systems.
  • Utilize technology and data management to maximize accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in setting annual budget and manage to that plan throughout the year through expense review, capital expense management and other spend control methods.
  • Create long term plans and strategies that ensure the company has the equipment and employees to meet current and future needs.
  • Ensure a safe and secure warehouse environment through effective policies and procedures and partnership with OSHA as needed.
  • Monitor work quality and ensure safe use of all warehouse equipment.
  • Create, maintain, and achieve high cleanliness standards for the warehouse.
  • Pick orders and complete other warehouse tasks as needed to support the team and ensure goals are met.
  • Leverage temporary help as needed to meet goals while managing cost.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Orders shipped within 24 hours based on NN's deliverable cycle.
  • Inventory accuracy maintained above 99%.
  • Safety first/always - creating and maintaining a culture of safety through best practices with no compromise.
  • Quality of shipments audited and tracked for accuracy and safe delivery to their final destination.
  • Continuous improvement training to ensure each operator has the skills necessary to be successful.
  • Hiring and keeping the best employees possible.
  • Ensure the warehouse is as clean and orderly as possible, at all times.
  • Interface with other departments data to deliver organizational goals.
  • Maintain equipment at the highest level.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing warehouse operations.
