Seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainer, San Diego Clippers at LA Clippers

The Assistant Athletic Trainer plays a key role in supporting the health, wellness, and performance of San Diego Clippers players throughout the G League season. Working collaboratively with the Performance, Health and Wellness team, this position delivers comprehensive athletic training services, including injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, return-to-play programming, and game and practice coverage. The Assistant Athletic Trainer also supports player performance initiatives through data collection, medical documentation, operational coordination, and travel logistics, helping ensure athletes receive exceptional care both on and off the court. This role is critical to optimizing player availability, enhancing performance, and contributing to the overall success of the San Diego Clippers organization.

This is 9-month seasonal role based in Carlsbad, CA and will conclude at the end of the 2026-27 G-League season. Due to the nature of this industry, the candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule including weeknights, weekends, and holidays to cover high G-League games. Frequent travel to away games is required.

What You Will Do

  • Work within and alongside the Performance, Health and Wellness team to provide comprehensive healthcare for all San Diego Clippers players.
  • Perform skilled services including but not limited to manual therapy, routine treatment, taping, first aid and emergency care, evaluation of injuries/illness, rehabilitation and return to play.
  • Assist with collecting and interpreting performance and testing data in conjunction with the San Diego Clippers Head Athletic Trainer and Head Performance Coach throughout the season.
  • Collaborate with San Diego Clippers Head Athletic Trainer and Head of Performance designing and implementing rehabilitation, return to play, and corrective exercise programs for San Diego Clippers players.
  • Document all player treatments, injury/illness, and medical updates in EMR.
  • Assist in maintaining general cleanliness and organization of the training room, recovery area(s), and performance space.
  • Assist San Diego Clippers Head Athletic Trainer with inventory management, packing and travel of medical equipment, league forms.
  • Assist with medical onboarding of all San Diego Clippers players.
  • Assist with coordination, scheduling, and transportation to/from player medical appointments as directed by the San Diego Clippers Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Assist with daily pre- and post-game/practice preparation, lift, treatment, and acute care as needed.
  • Assist with preparing the home and away athletic training room, referee’s locker room on game day.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Background, Skills And Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of experience in athletic training, ideally at the collegiate level or above.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent level degree in athletics training required.
  • Current BOC certification.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Effective interperosnal skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to learn, contribute and thrive in a fast paced multifaced environment.
  • Ability to keep confidentiality and privacy of all matters.

Special Requirements of the Job

  • This position requires frequent bending and moving, ability to move and lift up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods of time, sitting for long periods of time, potential exposure to multiple external elements, and extensive walking.

Compensation

  • The compensation for this position is $70,000 - $73,000 (annualized). Compensation package offered will be based on multiple individualized factors, including a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • The role is classified as exempt.
