Ally and Your Career

Ally Financial only succeeds when its people do - and that’s more than some cliché people put on job postings. We live this stuff! We see our people as, well, people - with interests, families, friends, dreams, and causes that are all important to them. Our focus is on the health and safety of our teammates as well as work-life balance and diversity and inclusion. From generous benefits to a variety of employee resource groups, we strive to build paths that encourage employees to stretch themselves professionally. We want to help you grow, develop, and learn new things. You’re constantly evolving, so shouldn’t your opportunities be, too?

Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.

The Opportunity

This role is on a hybrid schedule based in our Detroit or Charlotte location in office weekly with some remote work.

As a Senior Analyst, Compensation, you will support broad-based compensation programs and processes across the enterprise. This role provides analysis, reporting, and execution support for core compensation work, including market pricing, annual compensation planning, pay equity analysis, policy execution and process documentation, and compensation-related reporting.

You will partner with Compensation teammates, HR, and business stakeholders to help ensure compensation programs are administered consistently, data is accurate, and processes are carried out effectively. This role is a good fit for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple priorities in a structured environment.

The Work Itself

  • Analyze compensation data to support pay decisions, market assessments, annual planning, and other compensation-related recommendations.
  • Support market pricing and benchmarking activities, including job matching, survey participation, market data maintenance, and related analysis.
  • Facilitate key components of the annual compensation cycle, including planning support, data preparation, testing, reconciliation, reporting, and follow-up audits.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reporting on compensation trends, pay positioning, workforce costs, and other Total Rewards data.
  • Audit compensation and job data to help ensure employees are aligned to the appropriate job codes, pay grades, plans, and other compensation-related records.
  • Maintain compensation documentation, job aids, and process guidance to support consistent execution and clear program administration.
  • Apply compensation policies, guidelines, and relevant regulations in day-to-day work, and identify data or process issues for review as needed.
  • Contribute to compensation projects and improvement efforts, which may include pay equity analysis, job architecture support, pay transparency readiness, Workday-related enhancements, or workflow improvements.

The Skills You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in compensation, HR, benefits analysis, finance, or a related analytical field.
  • Experience working with data, reporting, and analysis in Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with limited supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting compensation programs in a large, complex organization.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: market pricing, annual compensation cycles, pay equity analysis, compensation reporting, job architecture support, or compensation data governance.
  • Experience with compensation tools, HR systems, or Workday-related compensation processes.
  • Financial services, banking, or Total Rewards experience.
