Lead Craftsman at Folklore Event Rentals
Build the pieces no one else can. Some companies build furniture. We build the pieces clients save on Pinterest, planners remember for years, and competitors wish they had. We're looking for a Lead Craftsman who can take an idea, a sketch, or even a rough conversation and turn it into something people didn't think was possible. This isn't repetitive production work. Every week brings a new challenge. One day you're building a custom bar. The next you're engineering a cabana that can survive transport, installation, weather, and hundreds of events.
If you enjoy solving problems with your hands as much as your mind, you'll probably love it here.
Who We Are
Folklore is all about style and creativity. Based in Sunny Southern California, we specialize in turning every event into an Instagram-worthy experience with our unique, curated furniture and decor. While So-Cal is our home base, we're constantly on the move, styling iconic events nationwide. Every piece in our inventory tells a story, and the Craftsman behind it ensures that the story is flawless.
We're not looking for someone who simply follows blueprints. We're looking for someone who enjoys figuring things out. Someone who takes pride in precision, solves problems independently, and wants to become the technical expert everyone else turns to.
Experience We're Looking for:
We're less interested in where you learned your craft than what you've built. You may come from: Custom woodworking, Cabinet making, Furniture fabrication, Scenic fabrication, Set construction, Boat building, Millwork, Finish carpentry, Exhibit fabrication, Architectural woodworking, Construction
If you've built complex projects from scratch and enjoy solving problems, we want to talk.
What You'll Do
You'll own the custom fabrication and repair shop by:
- Building one-of-a-kind event pieces from concept, inspiration photos, or verbal direction
- Repairing and refinishing premium rental inventory to like-new condition
- Planning projects against tight event deadlines
- Coaching warehouse team members on woodworking and repair techniques
- Delegating work based on skill level while handling the highest-complexity builds yourself
- Continuously improving build methods, quality, and efficiency
- Making smart engineering decisions that balance durability, appearance, and practicality
This is a player-coach role.
You'll spend most of your day building, while also helping everyone around you get better.
