SUMMARY: The User Interface Designer works to develop, maintain, and support the AMS website and digital products at every stage of product development. They find creative solutions that improve the user experience. This position prototypes, designs, and builds user interfaces for the AMS website and related communication mediums. They collaborate with the Web Working Group and software developers to produce visually aesthetic, highly usable web content and web interfaces. The User Interface Designer will have considerable knowledge of the AMS website, our electronic products, and the Society’s mission. They are very comfortable with using AI tools to assist in their daily work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Design wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and rapid prototypes.
- Create functional, easy-to-use, and innovate web interfaces.
- Maintain and improve responsive web content.
- Assist in the analysis of AMS website usage metrics via Google Analytics and propose recommendations where needed.
- Understand and work within web style guidelines.
- Establish and maintain website accessibility standards.
- Communicate with content providers to assure they adhere to web style guideless and accessibility standards.
- Write clear and concise documentation of new web design processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
TRAVEL: 10% Some travel may be required for the purpose of off-site professional development
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Works primarily within the IT – Software Engineering department
- Are a member of the Web Working Group and the Web Strategy Group
- Supports all staff with website related help desk requests.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Proven UI design experience with a strong portfolio
- Expert in HTML and CSS coding
- Advanced user of AI tools
- Adobe Create Suite
- Bootstrap 3 and forward
- WordPress
- Working knowledge of content management systems
- Basic understanding of JavaScript
- Willingness and ability to learn accessibility standards.
- Experience with typography a plus
- Experience with graphic and multimedia design a plus
