Applications Engineer at Hayden Industrial, LLC
Overview
Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join our team. This position is responsible for exercising discretion and judgement to plan, direct, design and coordinate the preparation of project documentation such as engineering drawings, production specifications, schedules, and contract modifications. The Applications Engineer must ensure that customers’ contract requirements are met, works on new designs and improves existing designs utilizing AutoCAD and Inventor. The Applications Engineer is responsible for implementing customer-designated changes to the system, using the CAD or Inventor derived tool to implement most of the work.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviews and verifies project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements.
- Submits project documentation to management for approval and transmits approved documents to the customer.
- Thermal design of products based on customer specifications.
- Create and revise drawings in an accurate and complete manner conforming to drafting standards.
- Creating engineering drawings for internal engineering and/or for manufacture by metalworkers.
- Pulls prints, works from marked up prints, sketches, and verbal instructions to produce working drawings
- Performs engineering file updates and maintenance.
- Refine ideas and concepts originated by others and develop improvements.
- Requires excellent communication skills, impeccable proofing and checking skills, ability to work independently or with a team. Communication with other engineers, managers, customers, and others to discuss the project, prepare documents is standard.
- Make improvements to existing products to meet the needs of a changing market or to make the product easier to manufacture at a lower cost. Optimize design content to meet performance, cost and time to market requirements.
- Participates in the development process from design concept through tooling and initial production.
- Provides engineering support to R&D and Manufacturing.
- Utilizes AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor or other similar 3D package.
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft business software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or 3 years’ relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of fluid flow and heat transfer.
- Proficiency in solid modeling programs (Inventor, ProE, etc.).
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Supervisor Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment. When in the manufacturing facility, all employees are required to wear personal protective equipment to include/hearing protection, and safety glasses with side shields, and OSHA compliant safety boots/shoes.

While performing duties of this job, the person in this position might remain stationary for long periods of time, while operating a computer and other office machinery. This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets and operate office machinery.
The employee might occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
On occasion, the employee may be required to visit the shop that is a non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles that are usually associated with metal fabrication shops.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Travel
Travel is not required for this position.
