Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Industrial) at Okie Staffing
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our clients maintenance team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of industrial machinery and heavy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, experience working on hydraulic and electrical systems, and a thorough understanding of workplace safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on industrial equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on heavy machinery
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and safety concerns
- Repair or replace engines, pumps, motors, bearings, conveyors, cylinders, hoses, and other components
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement corrective actions
- Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical drawings
- Complete maintenance records and work orders accurately
- Work closely with operations personnel to minimize equipment downtime
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Safety Responsibilities
- Adhere to all OSHA and company safety standards
- Utilize Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before performing maintenance or repairs on equipment
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Identify and report safety hazards promptly
Requirements
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Diesel Mechanic, or similar role
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment and machinery
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Experience
- Industrial manufacturing environments
- Conveyors, compressors, pumps, and production equipment
- Welding and fabrication
- Diesel and heavy equipment repair
- Preventative maintenance programs
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. as needed
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to work in industrial environments with varying temperatures and conditions
