Your first assignment

Your first assignment is to help a federal regulator keep the financial data it receives accurate and trustworthy. Working hands-on in Arelle, the open-source eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) engine, you will validate filings, run down the errors, and refine the taxonomies behind them. The work is real, hard, and it matters. It is also where you start, not the shape of your career here: we hire people, not seats, and we move our best to where the hardest problems are.

What you'll build

• Clean, validated data at scale: you run Arelle to check incoming filings, interpret what the validation output is telling you, and trace every error to its source.
• Better taxonomies and rules: you help maintain and sharpen the taxonomy and validation work that keeps the data consistent.
• In time, the firm itself: new capabilities, tools, and lines of business you help spin up.

Who you are

You are precise, curious, and relentless about getting the data right. You like untangling why something failed, and you do not stop until it is fixed. You experiment, fail, learn, and repeat, quickly. You would rather own an outcome than be handed a task.

What you bring

• Hands-on comfort operating Arelle for validation and taxonomy work, and the eye to read what its output is telling you.
• Working knowledge of XBRL: taxonomies, instance documents, and Inline XBRL.
• The care and curiosity to get financial data right, and to chase down why it is wrong.

What you'll need

U.S. citizenship (this initial engagement may be staffed by U.S. citizens only) and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination. This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and it requires commuting into DC regularly. Everything else, the years, the certifications, the specific tools, we ask in the application and get into during the interview.
