BB&E is an employee-owned, full-service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering, and Program/Project Management Services to the Federal and private sectors.

Position Summary

BB&E is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our team supporting the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Southeast (NAVFAC SE). The selected candidate will provide professional electrical engineering services in support of the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and other supported commands. Work will be performed on-site in Jacksonville, Florida, utilizing Government-furnished equipment. This position is contingent upon contract award. The role includes support for military construction (MILCON), facilities sustainment, renovation, and infrastructure improvement projects.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical engineering analyses, calculations, designs, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of facility projects.
  • Develop construction documents using AutoCAD and other engineering software for design-bid-build and design-build projects.
  • Design electrical systems supporting administrative, industrial, medical, waterfront, aviation, research, recreational, and residential facilities.
  • Design and evaluate medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, substations, transformers, standby power systems, lighting systems, grounding systems, lightning protection, telecommunications, audiovisual, photovoltaic, and security systems.
  • Perform engineering studies, calculations, technical reports, economic analyses, and engineering evaluations.
  • Conduct site investigations and facility assessments to develop project design requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, and project development teams.
  • Provide construction support by reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, conducting site visits, witnessing acceptance testing, and supporting commissioning activities.
  • Review engineering designs for compliance with applicable Federal, DoD, NAVFAC, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with Government stakeholders, architects, engineers, and project managers throughout all phases of project delivery.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) are required.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), National Electrical Safety Code (IEEE C2), International Building Code, and applicable DoD and NAVFAC criteria.
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, and electrical engineering analysis software such as SKM and AGi32.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while working independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, planning, project management principles, and construction administration.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with applicable OSHA, DoD, and NAVFAC safety requirements.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional electrical engineering experience supporting facilities design projects.
  • Minimum of one (1) year supporting Capital Improvement Projects for a Federal agency is required.
  • Experience preparing code-compliant electrical designs for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Experience developing plans, specifications, cost estimates, and engineering calculations.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred.
  • Experience supporting NAVFAC, USACE, DoD, or other Federal facilities programs is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand/walk/climb/kneel/crouch and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone.
