Facilities Lead Attendant at JACKSONVILLE AVIATION AUTHORITY
The Jacksonville Aviation Authority welcomes Internal and External applications for the role of Facilities Lead Attendant through midnight Tuesday July 28, 2026. The schedule will be Tuesday-Saturday 11p-7a.
This is a working lead position that requires facilitating, planning, and coordinating the day-to-day operations of facility maintenance cleaning for a medium hub commercial service airport. The work requires knowledge of the methods, techniques, and practices used in facilitating, planning and coordinating facilities maintenance and support services which is gained through a combination of training and extensive experience. Assigns, facilitates and evaluates the work of assigned staff. Contacts require skills in understanding human behavior, which is critical to job success, and involves significant interaction with people at all levels within or outside the department. The work is covered by clearly defined policies and principles where the incumbent is required to exercise judgment in accomplishing objectives. The work is performed in the JAA terminal, cargo building, FAA and Administrative Buildings and periodically in the office environments. Operates computers and other standard office equipment and motor vehicles. The work is reviewed in terms of feasibility, compatibility and effectiveness in meeting strategic objectives and expected results. Makes appropriate independent decisions as requested.
Essential Functions
- Plans and supervises work of the custodial staff to ensure work is performed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Ensures custodial staff is aware of the safety requirements of their job and they perform work in accordance with those requirements.
- Answers all operations calls and delegates the Facilities Attendant to proper area or assignment
- Plans and implements appropriate response to emergency situations.
- Maintains an inventory and recommends selection of suitable custodial supplies.
- Establishes and communicates reasonable standards of performance.
- Anticipates needs, forecasts results, analyzes and organizes work processes and procedures, and delegates assignments and or work tasks for results.
- Makes recommendations to the Facilities Attendant Manager on ways to improve the effectiveness of the custodial staff or reduce expenses without impacting service.
- Prepares work schedules for staff and coordinates cleaning assignments as needed.
- Reports any needed repairs to the Building Maintenance Department.
- Orders and picks up supplies from storeroom.
- Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of job performance of direct report personnel.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Skill in Microsoft Office business applications, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in the use of Oracle and Oracle eAM.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff.

Required Education & Experience
- High School diploma or its equivalent and
- Two(2) years of housekeeping, maintenance, or equivalent experience and
- Four (4) years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office business applications; including timekeeping/payroll systems
Preferred Education & Experience
- Associate’s Degree or Technical Certification in supervision, leadership, or respective/relevant technical expertise
- Experience performing housekeeping or similar inspections and maintaining documentation
Licenses & Certifications
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge
- Florida Class E Driver’s License may be required and must be maintained
Physical Demands
The physical demands consist of moving from one work location to another, to include but not limited to excessive walking; sitting or standing at a work station for extended periods of time and may involve lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and additional tasks requiring stretching and bending. Position requires operating a motor vehicle on public roads, airfield ramps areas, garages and other landside portions of the terminal. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
