Head of Payment Partnerships at Uber
ABOUT THE ROLE
Uber moves money at scale - billions of transactions across 85+ countries every day. As Head of Payment Partnerships, you will own the relationships and strategy that make this possible. You will serve as the senior point of contact for Uber's most strategic payment partners - networks, acquirers, issuers, wallets, and emerging payment platforms - while shaping the global partnership strategy that underpins Uber's payments infrastructure

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Strategic Partner Management
Own and develop executive-level relationships with Uber's most critical global payment partners, including card networks, processors, acquirers, digital wallets, and BNPL providers
Act as the primary escalation point and internal advocate for partner issues, ensuring timely resolution and long-term relationship health
Lead QBRs, annual planning sessions, and executive engagement with top-tier partners
Monitor partner performance against commercial and operational KPIs, driving accountability on both sides
Partnership Strategy & Business Development
- Define and execute Uber's global payments partnership strategy in collaboration with regional leads, product, risk financial business group and strategic finance
- Identify and evaluate new partnership opportunities - including alternative payment methods, embedded finance rails, and emerging regional players - that expand acceptance, reduce costs, or unlock new revenue
- Drive commercial negotiations for master agreements, pricing structures, and incentive arrangements with strategic partners
- Build market maps and competitive intelligence on the evolving payments landscape to inform Uber's strategic positioning
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Risk and Compliance to evaluate partner integrations and bring new payment capabilities to market
- Partner with regional and country teams to tailor global partnership frameworks to local market dynamics
- Represent Uber externally at industry conferences, partner summits, and standards bodies
Team & Organizational Leadership
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of partnership managers across global and regional remits
- Establish frameworks, playbooks, and governance structures to scale the partnerships function as Uber's payments footprint grows
- Drive a culture of rigor, ownership, and partner-centricity within the team
Basic qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in payments, fintech, or financial services, with a meaningful portion in partnership, business development, or commercial roles
- Deep familiarity with the global payments ecosystem - card networks, acquiring, digital wallets, APMs, and regulatory landscape
- Proven track record of managing senior partner relationships and leading complex commercial negotiations at a global scale
Preferred qualifications
- Strong strategic instincts with the ability to balance long-term vision with near-term business priorities
- Exceptional influencing and communication skills, with credibility at the C-suite level internally and externally
- Experience operating in a matrixed, fast-moving environment; comfort with ambiguity and a bias for action
- People leadership experience, with a track record of developing high-performing teams MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred
For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $191,000 per year - USD $212,000 per year.
For New York City, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $212,000 per year - USD $235,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $212,000 per year - USD $235,000 per year.
For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $191,000 per year - USD $212,000 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
