Private Tutor: Multi-Student (3rd & 4th grade) at Thrive Education Partners

We're currently seeking a skilled math tutor to support two elementary students through engaging, one-on-one instruction that extends their mathematical thinking while fostering curiosity, independence, and strong problem-solving skills.
Student Profiles
You'll work with two siblings who are both performing at or above grade level academically. This is an enrichment-focused role designed to challenge each student beyond the standard curriculum while supporting their individual learning styles and goals. The family values personalized instruction, strong communication, and an educator who can build meaningful relationships while helping both students prepare for future competitive academic opportunities.
One student is a highly creative learner who enjoys music, engineering-style building projects, and sports. They thrive when challenged and will benefit from advanced math instruction alongside support for organization and executive functioning.
The second student is an independent, confident learner with a natural aptitude for mathematics. They benefit from positive encouragement as they continues building both academic confidence and strong foundational literacy habits.
Schedule, Location & Compensation
- Location: Houston, TX (Central) | In-home
- Schedule: 1–2 after-school sessions per week, with one weekend session possible in place of a weekday.
- Session Format: Consecutive tutoring sessions with both students during the same visit (one hour session per student, approximately 2-4 hours per week).
- Compensation: $60–$70 per hour , depending on experience.
- Scheduling Flexibility: Schedule coordinated with the family
Key Responsibilities
- Design engaging, individualized math lessons that challenge each student beyond grade-level expectations.
- Create and adjust personalized learning plans based on ongoing observation, diagnostic assessment, and student progress.
- Differentiate instruction to match each student's learning style, strengths, and pace.
- Strengthen mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.
- Support executive functioning and organizational skills where appropriate to promote greater independence.
- Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with the family, sharing instructional updates and recommendations.
- Foster a positive learning environment that builds confidence, curiosity, and a genuine enjoyment of learning.
What to Expect Next
After reviewing applications, selected candidates will participate in a brief introductory phone conversation followed by interviews with the Thrive team and, if appropriate, the family. Finalists will complete standard background screening before beginning the placement.

- Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience teaching or tutoring elementary students in mathematics.
- Demonstrated ability to customize instruction for individual learners.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both students and families.
- Ability to pass all required background screening prior to employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or previous teaching certification.
- Experience working with academically advanced or gifted learners.
- Background supporting executive functioning, enrichment instruction, or competitive school preparation.
