Job Summary

Responsible for developing an executable MPS and Finite Schedule for Manufacturing through use of the ERP system. Update and correct jobs as changes occur to keep the ERP system current with actual production output. Analyze and review actions based on MRP/ERP and actual build schedules. Interact with Manufacturing and Materials to communicate changes in production and their effects on the system. Monitor jobs to completion and implement corrections as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedule the production plan based on sales and forecasted requirements. Ensure production plan is propagated through the ERP system.
  • Review, firm MRP suggestions (or create jobs) and release shop orders in support of the production schedule, and keep MRP shop order database clean. (Job Management).
  • Issue shop order travelers, pick lists, and shop traveler documentation to the production floor.
  • Assign serial numbers to finished tanks and transfer to inventory.
  • Complete jobs in the ERP system by ensuring all materials have been issued and all quantities are correct.
  • Communicate changes to the schedule or build quantity with the Materials and Purchasing (other departments as necessary), especially when changes occur during production.
  • Work with Materials and Purchasing departments in both the preplanning and execution of the build plan.
  • Work with Engineering on jobs for new parts or changes to existing parts, and on special jobs that require modifications to standard shop order travelers.
  • Work closely with Accounting to ensure the system has the correct production information to generate correct costing information.
  • Maintain Schedule Attainment and KPI reports
  • Perform additional duties as required by company leadership.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understand the MRP/ERP system and the impact parameters have on the planning process.
  • Solid knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain processes (MPS production planning, sales/forecasted demand management, capacity leveling, and FG material inventory management)
  • Ability to effectively interact with multi-functional areas (Marketing/Sales, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Quality, etc.)
  • Great attention to detail and a tenacious ability to resolve errors to completion.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good organizational and planning skills.

Credentials and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or similar discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in planning and/or scheduling with a manufacturing company.
  • Familiarity with an ERP system (SAP, IFS, ORACLE, etc.) and common software applications a must
  • Experience using Word and Excel.
  • Experience reading and understanding BOM’s (bill of materials).

Other Skills/Abilities or Special Requirements

  • Experience with statistical forecasting (for asset management).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Process Variation Reduction (Six Sigma) concepts and tool sets as they relate to materials management.
  • ERP system implementation team experience
