Position: Legal Typist

Location: Salinas, CA

Pay: $19 to $25/hour

Type: Full-time; Contract

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

HB Staffing is seeking a Legal Typist to join a growing and dynamic team!

Job Description

• Perform varied, complex, and responsible legal clerical work for one or more attorneys.
• Record legal documents by contacting the appropriate court department, notify other offices, and file legal papers with the proper courts SimplyHired+1.
• Review and process misdemeanor and felony complaints, indictments, and search warrants.
• Maintain files, logs, and indexes recording pleas, trial convictions, acquittals, sentences, and other case dispositions.
• Enter and update cases in the recordkeeping.
• Operate office equipment such as word processors, copiers, calculators, and typewriters.
• Answer public inquiries regarding procedures and information.
• Safeguard confidential materials and handle sensitive information.

Position Requirements

• Proven track record in English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and written format.
• Proficiency in legal office work, procedures, and terminology.
• Ability to comprehend and execute complex oral and written instructions.
• Skill in operating office equipment and maintaining accurate records.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organization and prioritization skills.
