PURPOSE
The Financial Aid Assistant I-III, under general supervision, performs administrative financial aid duties and assists students and their families with Financial Aid applications, processing aid, outreach, and reporting. Each Financial Aid Assistant will have general duties, but will also become a subject matter expert in one area, such as, but not limited to loans, private aid, federal aid, state aid, or scholarships, depending on staffing needs.
Functional Area 1: Student Support
Percent Effort: 45%
- Provides information to students and families on federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs including eligibility, application procedures, and debt management.
- Assist students in completing forms, gathering necessary documents, and understanding the application process.
- Supports service excellence to students, families, and internal and external partners through clear and thorough written and verbal communication.
Functional Area 2: Reporting and Data Management
Percent Effort: 45%
- Works with confidential documents and financial aid systems to manage student records.
- Enters, verifies, and retrieves data from student information and financial aid systems.
- Reviews documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records of financial aid information including student awards, disbursements, and compliance reports
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies related to financial aid
Functional Area 3: Outreach and Engagement
Percent Effort: 10%
- Represent Student Financial Services at tabling events to engage with current and future students and their families.
Qualifications
- Level I – High school diploma or GED and 3 years of related experience
- Level II - High school diploma or GED and 4 years of related experience
- Level III - High school diploma or GED and 7 years of related experience
- Additional education may be used as a substitute for the minimum requirement:
- Level I – Associate’s degree and 1 year of related experience
- Level II – Associate’s degree and 2 years of related experience; or Bachelor’s degree
- Level III – Associate’s degree and 5 years of related experience; or Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience; or Master’s degree and 1 year of related experience

Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of financial aid regulations
- Experience in a financial aid environment
SALARY: Dependent upon education/experience.
Financial Aid Assistant I: Up to $15.70 Hourly
- (Up to $32,656.00 Annually, Approximately)
Financial Aid Assistant II: Up to $16.83 Hourly
- (Up to $35,0006.40 Annually, Approximately)
Financial Aid Assistant III: Up to $19.54 Hourly
- (Up to $40,643.20 Annually, Approximately)
