Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Location (city, state): Tulsa, Oklahoma

Assignment Type: Direct Hire

Pay: $60,000–$65,000

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday 8:00-5:00

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing accurate and timely biweekly, multi-state payroll for 1,000+ employees. This position will work closely with employees, department supervisors, and the accounting team to ensure payroll data is accurate, compliant, and processed on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process biweekly, multi-state payroll and reconcile payroll prior to transmission to ADP.
  • Process payroll checks, emergency checks, reissues, adjustments, refunds, and related payroll actions.
  • Calculate and process garnishments while ensuring legal compliance.
  • Review electronic timekeeping information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Follow up with supervisors regarding missing time punches and timesheet approvals.
  • Process employee updates including new hires, terminations, tax changes, deductions, direct deposits, rate changes, retroactive adjustments, and special pays.
  • Prepare internal payroll reports through ADP.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll tax and reporting requirements.
  • Process bank transactions, direct deposit recalls, stop payments, wire transfers, and check inquiries.
  • Prepare accurate year-end reporting, including W-2s and W-2cs.
  • Interpret and apply company pay policies, leave policies, tax requirements, garnishments, and other payroll regulations.
  • Conduct internal audits of payroll records and reconcile payroll totals.
  • Assist with internal and external payroll tax and accounting audits.
  • Support Workers' Compensation and 401(k) plan administration.
  • Assist with annual financial audits.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of ADP payroll experience.
  • Experience processing payroll for 1,000+ employees.
  • Multi-state payroll experience.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax and government reporting requirements.
  • Experience with garnishments, levies, and child support processing.
  • Experience with ADP strongly preferred. Candidates with Paycom, Paychex, or Paycor experience may also be considered.
