We are seeking a strong field leader who can provide hands-on project support, oversee construction activities, and work collaboratively with project teams, contractors, and clients to successfully deliver industrial projects.

The Mechanical Superintendent will provide field leadership and construction oversight for the Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) package on an industrial project in Challis, Idaho. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing contractors and subcontractors, ensuring structural steel and piping installation activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, schedule, quality standards, and client expectations.

This position requires a strong field leader with hands-on experience managing mechanical construction contractors, particularly contractors performing structural steel and piping installations. The ideal candidate will have a strong personality, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to provide direction, address issues, and hold contractors accountable in a fast-paced construction environment.

Rotation: 3 weeks on / 1 week off

Location: Challis, Idaho

Duration: Immediate – March 2027

Work Authorization: Existing U.S. work authorization/visa or the ability to legally work in the United States is required.

What You'll Do

• Provide day-to-day field leadership and direction for the Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) package.
• Oversee and manage contractors and subcontractors performing structural steel and piping installation.
• Monitor field execution to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to required quality standards.
• Coordinate contractor activities and ensure work is aligned with project requirements, drawings, specifications, and work packages.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, work packages, and other technical documentation.
• Monitor contractor productivity, progress, manpower, and schedule performance.
• Identify construction issues and provide practical, timely solutions to maintain project progress.
• Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Construction Managers, client representatives, and other field disciplines.
• Provide clear direction to contractors and hold them accountable for safety, schedule, quality, and performance expectations.
• Participate in construction planning, scheduling, coordination meetings, and progress reporting.
• Ensure structural steel and piping installation activities are executed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and lead by example in the field.
• Identify potential schedule conflicts, constructability concerns, and resource requirements.
• Support inspection, testing, commissioning, turnover, and project closeout activities as required.
• Mentor and provide leadership to field personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in industrial construction, with significant experience in a Superintendent or senior field leadership role.
• Strong mechanical construction experience within mining, heavy industrial, or similar environments.
• Proven experience overseeing Structural, Mechanical & Piping (SMP) construction packages.
• Demonstrated experience managing contractors and subcontractors performing structural steel and piping installation.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, field execution, scheduling, and contractor coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work packages, and construction plans.
• Proven ability to monitor contractor performance, productivity, schedule, quality, and manpower.
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to provide clear direction and hold contractors accountable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a field environment.
• Experience working within mining, heavy industrial, processing, or major capital projects is preferred.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Ability to work a 3 weeks on / 1 week off rotation.
• Ability to work in Challis, Idaho for the duration of the project.
• Existing U.S. work authorization/visa or ability to legally work in the United States is required.
• Trade certification, technical diploma, or related construction qualification is considered an asset.
