MSI-Viking Gage is seeking a Scale Calibration Technician to join our Service team. This position is primarily responsible for traveling to customer locations to perform calibration, inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of weighing equipment and scale systems.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working independently, and focused on providing accurate, reliable service and a positive customer experience.
Repsonsibilities
- Travel to customer locations to perform calibration, testing, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of scales and weighing equipment.
- Service a variety of equipment, including bench scales, floor scales, counting scales, indicators, and other weighing systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic scale issues and determine appropriate repairs or corrective actions.
- Perform calibrations in accordance with established procedures, manufacturer specifications, and applicable quality standards.
- Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and communicate findings and recommendations to customers.
- Accurately complete calibration records, service reports, and other required documentation.
- Maintain company-issued tools, calibration standards, test weights, and service equipment.
- Safely load, unload, transport, and handle calibration equipment and test weights.
- Follow company safety procedures and customer-site requirements.
- Maintain a professional appearance and provide courteous, responsive service while working at customer facilities.
- Manage assigned service calls and daily schedules with limited supervision.
- Communicate with customers and internal teams regarding service status, repairs, and follow-up needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training is a plus.
- Previous experience with scale calibration, scale repair, weighing systems, instrumentation, electronics, industrial maintenance, or a related technical field preferred.
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and understand technical procedures, specifications, and equipment manuals.
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic service documentation.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service assignments.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly to customer locations within the assigned territory.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and work around industrial equipment.
- Ability to lift and move tools, test weights, and calibration equipment as required.
- Ability to safely load and unload equipment from a company vehicle.
- Ability to use carts, dollies, lifting devices, and other material-handling equipment when needed.
- Ability to work in a variety of customer environments, including manufacturing and industrial facilities.
