Job Duties:Supervise and participate in boiler operations, general maintenance, repair, and construction projects. Schedule and assign daily work based on priorities, staffing, and available resources. Inspect completed work to ensure it meets safety requirements and established standards. Coordinate projects and work assignments with other supervisors and departments. Estimate the labor, materials, equipment, and supplies needed for projects. Maintain inventory and submit requests for necessary materials and supplies. Prepare reports and keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs. Train and supervise inmates performing maintenance and construction work. Enforce safety rules and help maintain the security of assigned inmates. Operate machinery and equipment related to the assigned work area.You'd be a GOOD fit if:You have a high school diploma or GED. You have at least one year of paid boiler operations experience, or you completed an applicable trade, technical, NCCER, or U.S. military training program. You understand basic boiler components and general maintenance practices. You can plan and organize work, calculate material needs, and maintain accurate records. You communicate instructions clearly and work well with other employees and departments. You can interpret and follow policies, procedures, safety rules, and regulations. You are comfortable operating maintenance-related machinery and equipment. You can work independently and make sound decisions with limited supervision.You'd be a GREAT fit if:You have hands-on experience operating, maintaining, or repairing boilers. You have experience supervising and training inmates in a secure environment. You have experience leading maintenance or construction crews and managing multiple projects. You are skilled at estimating labor hours, materials, supplies, and project costs. You understand TDCJ's organizational structure, policies, procedures, and security requirements. You are safety-focused, organized, dependable, and able to adjust priorities when urgent maintenance needs arise.
