Procon is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector for a long-term, onsite opportunity in the Orlando, FL area. This position will provide construction inspection and quality assurance oversight, helping ensure work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, applicable codes, and established quality and safety standards.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 8 years of construction industry experience, with previous experience as a Construction Inspector, QA/QC Manager, or similar field-based quality role.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, installation methods, and quality assurance/quality control procedures.
- Extensive experience reviewing and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
- Ability to inspect architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety construction activities for compliance.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices, including OSHA requirements and jobsite safety standards.
- Skilled in preparing professional correspondence, daily reports, inspection documentation, and maintaining accurate and organized project records.
- Previous experience supporting federal and/or tenant improvement construction projects is preferred.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide quality assurance and construction inspection oversight throughout the project, evaluating workmanship and verifying compliance with construction drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Lead and coordinate onsite inspection activities to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and quality standards.
- Monitor and document daily construction activities, progress, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
- Inspect materials, workmanship, and installation methods associated with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.
- Prepare detailed daily field reports, inspection reports, non-conformance notices, photographic documentation, and other required project records.
- Identify deficiencies and non-conforming work and track corrective actions through resolution.
- Review and verify contractor pay applications against observed work progress and completed construction activities.
- Monitor contractor compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements, including OSHA standards.
- Participate in project meetings and coordinate with contractors, project stakeholders, and other members of the construction management team as needed.
- Support project closeout activities, including punch-list inspections, testing, final inspections, and verification that corrective work has been completed.
Physical Requirements
This position requires regular onsite presence in an active construction environment. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
- Walking and standing for extended periods while performing site observations and inspections.
- Navigating active construction areas, including stairs, uneven surfaces, temporary walkways, and varying elevations.
- Occasionally bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing as necessary to observe construction activities.
- Accessing mechanical, electrical, utility, process, and other construction areas as required.
- Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and complying with all applicable site safety requirements.
- Working in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to typical construction-site conditions, including noise, dust, weather, and temperature fluctuations.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
