Director of Developer Experience (DevEx) at Piper Companies

Piper Companies is seeking a Director of Developer Experience (DevEx) for a leading organization in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. The Director of Developer Experience (DevEx) role is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite in the office. The Director of Developer Experience (DevEx) will lead enterprise modernization initiatives focused on improving engineering productivity, accelerating software delivery velocity, strengthening governance, and optimizing technology spend. An ideal candidate for the Director of Developer Experience (DevEx) role is a strategic technology leader with deep experience in platform engineering, developer tooling, cloud modernization, and measurable DevEx outcomes.

Responsibilities of the Director of Developer Experience (DevEx):

• Lead the enterprise Developer Experience strategy, driving modernization initiatives that improve engineering productivity and software delivery performance.
• Establish and track KPIs such as deployment frequency, lead time for changes, developer satisfaction, platform adoption, and operational efficiency.
• Build and scale internal developer platforms, self-service capabilities, CI/CD standards, and cloud-native engineering practices.
• Partner with engineering, architecture, security, and finance leaders to strengthen governance, compliance, and cost management initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement programs that reduce technical debt, streamline developer workflows, and accelerate product delivery.

Qualifications of the Director of Developer Experience (DevEx):

• 10+ years of technology leadership experience with a strong focus on Developer Experience, platform engineering, cloud transformation, or application modernization.
• Demonstrated success delivering measurable improvements in engineering productivity, deployment velocity, platform adoption, and operational efficiency.
• Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and developer tooling ecosystems.
• Experience establishing governance frameworks, engineering standards, and cost optimization programs across large technology organizations.
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Compensation for the Director of Developer Experience (DevEx) includes:

• Salary range: $150,000 – $200,000 depending on experience
