Interior Design Professional at Emerald Design Works

Emerald Design Works is looking for talented interior design professionals to join our growing Design Studios in Chicago and Greensboro. We are open to multiple experience levels and are looking for designers who combine creative vision, technical skill, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset.
Our work spans multifamily, model homes, senior living, private clubs, and commercial workplace environments. Every project is approached with intention, balancing beauty, functionality, and the seamless client experience that defines Emerald.
The Work You’ll Help Build
- Translate client goals into thoughtful design concepts that balance creativity, functionality, and brand identity.
- Contribute across the full design process, from concept development and space planning through construction documentation, procurement coordination, and installation.
- Create compelling presentations, renderings, and visual storytelling that communicate design intent clearly and confidently.
- Develop and maintain drawings, finish schedules, and FF&E specifications that support exceptional project execution.
- Source furnishings, materials, finishes, and products that reinforce each project’s vision while meeting commercial performance requirements.
- Collaborate closely with procurement, client delivery, installation, and leadership teams to create a cohesive client experience.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, site visits, and installations; depending on experience, take on broader project leadership and mentoring responsibilities.
What We’re Looking For
- You are a thoughtful designer who cares about both the creative idea and the details required to bring it to life.
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Fine Arts, or a related discipline, or equivalent education and professional experience.
- Experience creating residentially inspired commercial interiors through thoughtful planning, documentation, and execution.
- Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD; experience with SketchUp, Enscape, or comparable visualization tools.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop.
- Understanding of commercial FF&E specifications, material selections, finish schedules, and design documentation.
- Strong organization, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate confidently with clients and project teams.
- Willingness to travel as needed for presentations, site visits, and project installations.
