Job Function

The Robotics Sales Area Manager is responsible for growing market share and achieving profitable sales growth within the assigned Northeast territory for products manufactured and sold by the Stäubli Robotics Division.

This role combines technical expertise with consultative sales. The successful candidate will leverage technical knowledge to demonstrate the value of Stäubli solutions, communicate product advantages, and help customers identify solutions that meet their specific application requirements.

The Robotics Sales Area Manager will deliver technical presentations, support customer evaluations, develop new business opportunities, and work closely with internal teams to ensure customer success throughout the sales process. This position also requires an understanding of customer technical requirements and the ability to collaborate on solutions that address those needs.

Responsibilities and Objectives

  • Visit prospective and existing customers to present Stäubli and its product portfolio.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to prospective and existing customers.
  • Collaborate with technical sales support teams to understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Develop an understanding of customer applications and match products to their technical needs.
  • Secure new business and maintain existing customer relationships.
  • Work with the Inside Sales team to prepare quotations and secure new and repeat orders.
  • Maintain communication with customers throughout the order process, including invoicing, shipping, and post-shipment activities.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for support needs and coordinate with Service and Applications Engineering teams as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate the advantages of Stäubli products compared with competitive offerings, including potential cost savings and productivity improvements.
  • Partner with the Business Development team to identify, research, and develop new business opportunities.
  • Utilize the CRM system to manage customer information, track activities, and generate reports.
  • Actively participate in trade shows, open houses, and quarterly sales meetings.
  • Manage and develop the Northeast territory.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required; engineering or technical background preferred.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in mechanical, electrical, and/or software-related disciplines.
  • Ability to manage and follow technical projects through completion.
  • Proven ability to combine technical expertise with strong customer-facing and sales skills.
  • Strong communication and technical presentation skills.
  • Excellent listening, problem-solving, and comprehension skills.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and driven to learn and understand customer applications.
  • Preferred geographic based: Detroit MI

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work for extended periods at a desk and on a computer.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Sufficient dexterity and accuracy to operate equipment and perform job-related tasks.

Work Schedule

  • Extensive travel is required, with approximately three to four days per week spent visiting prospective and existing customers.
  • One to two days per week will typically be dedicated to administrative and office-based responsibilities.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.
