Superintendent – Teledata
Position Summary
Cache Valley Electric is seeking an experienced Superintendent to join our Teledata division and lead field operations on large-scale, mission-critical data center projects.
This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of teledata and low-voltage scopes, including structured cabling, fiber optic infrastructure, pathways, equipment installation, testing, and commissioning support. The Superintendent will work closely with Project Managers, General Foremen, field crews, general contractors, and other trades to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to CVE's quality standards.
The ideal candidate is a strong field leader with hands-on experience delivering complex data center or mission-critical telecommunications projects and managing large crews in fast-paced construction environments.
What You'll Do
- Provide overall field leadership for Teledata operations on large-scale data center projects.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise installation of structured cabling, fiber optic systems, copper cabling, pathways, racks, cabinets, and associated low-voltage infrastructure.
- Lead General Foremen, Foremen, technicians, and field crews while maintaining productivity and accountability.
- Coordinate daily and weekly work activities based on project schedules, milestones, manpower requirements, and site conditions.
- Develop short-term look-ahead plans and communicate manpower, material, equipment, and scheduling needs to project leadership.
- Coordinate Teledata activities with the general contractor, electrical teams, other subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and installation requirements to ensure field work meets project requirements.
- Identify constructability issues, conflicts, and potential schedule impacts before they affect production.
- Monitor labor productivity and manpower utilization and make adjustments when necessary.
- Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available to crews when needed.
- Oversee installation quality and ensure work meets CVE standards, customer requirements, applicable codes, and project specifications.
- Support fiber and copper testing, labeling, documentation, punch-list completion, commissioning, and turnover activities.
- Conduct field walks and monitor project progress against established schedules and milestones.
- Maintain accurate field documentation and communicate project status to Project Managers and leadership.
- Participate in project coordination, scheduling, safety, and progress meetings.
- Promote and enforce CVE's safety standards and ensure crews maintain a safe, organized job site.
- Mentor and develop field leadership and technicians while building a strong, accountable team.
- Support project closeout and ensure all outstanding field work, testing, documentation, and punch-list items are completed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, low-voltage, or related construction.
- Previous experience as a Superintendent, General Foreman, Foreman, or similar field leadership position.
- Data center or mission-critical construction experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, fiber optic infrastructure, copper cabling, pathways, racks, cabinets, and telecommunications spaces.
- Experience managing large crews and multiple areas of work simultaneously.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, manpower planning, production tracking, and field coordination.
- Experience coordinating with general contractors and multiple trades on complex construction projects.
- Knowledge of fiber installation, termination, testing, labeling, and documentation processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify potential issues and develop solutions before they impact the project.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with aggressive project schedules.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and accountability.
- Ability to travel or work on project sites as required.
