Professional Land Survey / Survey Project Surveyor (PLS) | Madison, WI

Ayres Associates is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join our growing team in Madison, Wisconsin. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of transportation, municipal, utility, and land development projects while providing technical leadership, mentoring staff, and supporting project delivery.

This role is primarily office-based, with opportunities to provide field support as needed. It is ideal for a survey professional who enjoys balancing technical expertise, project coordination, and collaboration within a high-performing team environment.

What You'll Do

• Perform surveying, mapping, and project-related tasks.
• Develop and review deliverables using survey software and CADD platforms.
• Collaborate with project managers, crew chiefs, technicians, and fellow survey professionals.
• Prepare and review survey documents and project deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
• Support safety initiatives and occasional field assignments.

What We're Looking For

• Associate degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree in Land Surveying.
• 5+ years of land surveying experience within the following survey services:
• Design surveys, including transportation, utility, municipal, and site development.
• Geospatial control and LiDAR QA/QC.
• Construction layout for transportation, utility, building, and municipal projects.
• Land surveys, including ALTA and WisDOT right-of-way plats.
• Wisconsin Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
• Experience using survey equipment, software, and CADD platforms to support project delivery and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
