The Financial Reporting Analyst will support the Foundation’s financial reporting and administrative operations by maintaining accurate financial information, preparing reports, reviewing transactions, and helping ensure that financial activity is properly documented and reported. The position will work closely with the Foundation’s administrative and finance stakeholders and will support reporting related to grants, investments, expenses, assets, and other financial activity. The role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work confidently with spreadsheets, financial records, reporting systems, electronic documents, and standard office technology. The position is based at the Foundation’s Chicago office.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare recurring financial reports, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Review financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, appropriate classification, and supporting records
  • Maintain organized financial data and documentation for reporting, review, and compliance purposes
  • Assist with tracking grant related financial activity, charitable disbursements, expenses, and other Foundation transactions
  • Reconcile financial information across spreadsheets, accounting records, bank information, investment records, and supporting documentation
  • Analyze financial information and identify unusual items, discrepancies, missing information, or reporting issues
  • Support preparation of financial information required for internal reviews, tax reporting, regulatory filings, and Foundation records
  • Use spreadsheets, financial reporting systems, electronic records, and standard office equipment to complete daily financial reporting activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
  • Two or more years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, financial analysis, audit support, or a related area
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements, account reconciliation, transaction review, and financial reporting principles
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, filtering, data organization, and preparation of financial schedules
  • Ability to analyze detailed financial information and identify discrepancies accurately
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and careful attention to confidential financial information
  • Ability to manage recurring reporting responsibilities while meeting established deadlines
  • Experience working with accounting, financial reporting, grant administration, or investment related records is helpful
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and maintain clear and accurate documentation
  • Proficiency using computers, spreadsheet applications, financial reporting systems, document management tools, email, and standard office equipment
