Estimator II at Enterprise Electrical
Job Summary
The Estimator II independently develops accurate and competitive estimates for electrical commercial construction projects, and defined scopes within mission critical/data center environments. This role is responsible for building complete pricing, defining scope, and ensuring estimates reflect actual field installation practices and productivity.
The Estimator II supports both design build and structured bid work, requiring the ability to manage multiple bids. This position works directly with the estimating team and vendors to validate scope, pricing, and constructability, and plays a key role in delivering estimates that align with company profitability and execution capabilities.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:
· Go online and accept RFQ, RFP, & Invitations to Bid
· Create project folders, download drawings, specifications, and project documents
· Separate project documents into the format required for estimating
· Create accubid projects and upload documents into live count
· Communicate with coworkers to define the project scope, address deficiencies, negotiate pricing and build relationships
· Complete specification reviews and Project document reviews
· Attend job walks and document the information in Accubid, Save photos in the project folder
· Identify issues for discussion with the team. Generate RFI's and/or document the assumptions in Accubid
· Build and Maintain relationships with the clients you serve
· Request information and updates on all projects you have bid and update the team during the weekly sales meeting
· Develop accurate, detailed takeoffs for a variety of projects
· Develop and document logical assumptions during estimating activities and apply these assumptions to take-off tasks
· Exhibit the ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use your time efficiently and develop realistic action plans
· Produce, review, and distribute Bills of Material for projects
· Maintain department confidentiality
· Participate in internal estimate reviews as necessary
· Participate in project turnover and kickoff collaboration when necessary
· Participate in the complete bid process to promote your knowledge and growth
· Provide analytical summaries and recommendations to improve the estimating process, the department, and the company
· Review takeoffs and work from junior estimators and check for conformity to EEC requirements and project specs and drawings
· Maintain and represent Company standards, always produce a professional and quality product for distribution
· Assists with other job responsibilities as required
· Assist and mentor estimator I employees
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Strong working knowledge of electrical construction
· Ability to independently read and interpret full drawing sets, specifications, and one-line diagrams
· Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and its impact on scope and cost
· Ability to build labor estimates based on real-world installation methods, not just templates
· Strong understanding of material pricing, availability, and market conditions
· Ability to identify constructability concerns and adjust estimates accordingly
· Strong analytical skills to evaluate subcontractor quotes and perform bid leveling
· Ability to manage multiple bids and service requests simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
· Effective communication skills with field teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders
· Proficiency in estimating software, Bluebeam. Accubid/LiveCount, and MS Excel for pricing and analysis
Supervisory Responsibilities
· No direct reports
· Provides guidance and support to Estimator I on takeoffs, pricing, and scope interpretation
· Works under direction of senior estimators and chief estimator

· Operates with moderate independence in a fast-paced environment balancing bid deadlines
· Regular interaction with clients, vendors, and internal teams
· Frequent job-site visits for pre-bid walkthroughs and scope validation
Physical Requirements

· Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use performing detailed takeoffs, cost analysis, and estimate preparation, including frequent use of multiple monitors and estimating software
· Ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings and technical documents (digital and printed) requiring strong visual focus and attention to detail
· Ability to organize and navigate multiple projects and tasks
· Regular jobsite visits requiring walking active construction sites, climbing stairs/ladders, accessing electrical/mechanical areas, and wearing required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, steel-toe boots)
· Ability to travel locally to jobsites and meetings, lift and carry materials (up to 30 lbs), and work in varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, noise, and dust

Typical Schedule/Shift Details
· Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, typically 8–10 hour days aligned with business and project needs; start and end times may vary based on bid dates and project requirements
· Position requires flexibility to work extended hours, early mornings, evenings, or occasional weekends to support:
o Critical bid submissions
o Pre-bid meetings
o Bid review and coordination meetings
· Schedule is driven by a combination of planned bid cycles, follow up requests/meeting and requires the ability to adjust priorities and respond quickly to changing demands
· Occasional travel and off-site work required for pre-bid walkthroughs, jobsite visits, client meetings, and coordination with field operations; schedule may adjust to align with jobsite access times or client requirements
Overtime Expectations
· This position is classified as exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal and state laws
· The role is expected to fulfill the responsibilities of the position regardless of hours required, with workload driven by project portfolio demands, client commitments, and business objectives
· Additional hours, including early mornings, extended workdays, evenings, or weekends, may be necessary to support critical project milestones, executive-level client needs, and schedule-sensitive activities
· Availability outside of standard business hours is expected to address project issues, support decision-making, and respond to time-sensitive matters impacting project or business performance
· Work schedules are managed with a high degree of independence and accountability, in coordination with senior leadership, to ensure successful delivery of projects and operational objectives
Required Education and Experience
Education
· Bachelor’s degree OR Journeyman’s card preferred
· OR equivalent combination of education, military training, and hands-on electrical construction, service, or field experience accepted
· Strong preference for candidates with field leadership background (foreman, superintendent)
· Military experience, including veterans with electrical, engineering, construction, logistics, or technical occupational backgrounds, is highly valued
Certifications/Licenses
· OSHA 30 required
· Valid driver’s license required
· Journeyman or Master Electrician license strongly preferred
· Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) preferred
Experience Requirements
· 3-5+ years of electrical estimating experience
· Proven experience estimating:
o Large commercial construction projects
o Mission critical/data center projects
o Manufacturing projects
o Design build or assist for these types of projects
· Demonstrated ability to develop labor strategies and manage complex bids
· Experience working directly with clients, GCs, and senior operations leadership
· Proven ability to mentor and develop junior estimators
Equipment or Machines Routinely Used in This Position
· Computer/laptop with estimating software (Accubid, Trimble, ConEst, or equivalent) used for basic quantity takeoffs and entry-level pricing support
· Bluebeam and LiveCount for digital takeoffs, drawing review, and markups
· Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for material lists, quantity tracking, and internal communication
· Digital plan rooms and document management systems (e.g., Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, SharePoint) to access drawings and specifications
· Mobile phone for coordination with estimating team, clients, and vendors
· Standard office equipment including printers, scanners, and plotters
· Personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting job sites, including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, and work boots
