Director of Supply Chain at Jacob Bar Inc.
As Jacob’s Director of Supply Chain, you’ll own our end-to-end supply chain—from raw material and packaging procurement through manufacturing, inventory, freight, and fulfillment. Your mission is to build a reliable, cost-effective, and scalable operation that consistently delivers excellent products and keeps our DTC and retail channels in stock.
You’ll have broad autonomy to build and run the function, personally driving both the day-to-day execution and the systems and processes that make it dependable.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a business that is still building its operational infrastructure. We’re looking for someone who has done this before in a growing food or adjacent CPG business and wants to take ownership of building it at Jacob.
What you'll do
- Own manufacturing performance: Lead production planning and execution with our contract manufacturers, ensuring materials, capacity, schedules, and finished goods meet agreed requirements. Resolve delays and production issues, and hold partners accountable for follow-through.
- Build manufacturing resilience: Lead capacity planning and supply continuity in collaboration with our existing network of product development consultants, who manage manufacturing processes and documentation with our manufacturers.
- Own procurement and supplier relationships: Manage ingredient and packaging procurement through our established supplier network, negotiate pricing and terms, manage purchase orders, and ensure materials arrive where and when they are needed.
- Lead demand and supply planning: Work with Finance and Growth to translate forecasts, campaigns, launches, and retail commitments into purchasing, production, and replenishment plans.
- Build reliable inventory systems: Own our inventory-management system and the processes behind it, maintaining accurate quantities, locations, lots, product age, and inventory status across our network.
- Reconcile production and inventory: Track material receipts, consumption, waste, production output, and transfers. Investigate discrepancies and establish controls that prevent recurring errors.
- Own freight and fulfillment: Manage movement between suppliers, manufacturers, warehouses, fulfillment partners, and distributors, and oversee delivery performance for ecommerce customers and retail partners.
- Protect product quality: Collaborate with our existing network of food scientists and product development consultants to ensure manufacturing partners consistently meet agreed product and packaging specifications. Maintain traceability and work with these partners to investigate and resolve quality issues.
- Improve supply-chain economics and visibility: Track supplier, manufacturing, freight, storage, and fulfillment costs with Finance. Establish clear performance measures and surface risks early, with practical plans to address them.
Requirements
- 5-7+ years of experience in supply chain or operations at a CPG company, including experience with leadership or substantial functional ownership.
- Demonstrated experience building supply-chain systems and processes in a growing business with limited infrastructure; food or beverage experience strongly preferred.
- Track record of managing contract manufacturing, procurement, inventory, freight, and fulfillment across DTC and retail channels.
- Strong planning and commercial judgment, with the ability to balance service levels, product quality, cost, and cash requirements.
- Write "34" at the top of your cover letter.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard for data accuracy, reconciliation, and follow-through.
- Comfortable personally executing purchase orders, production coordination, inventory investigations, and other day-to-day work while building the broader function.
- Clear communication, strong vendor-management skills, and the judgment to act independently while keeping leadership informed of material risks and decisions.
- Willingness to travel to manufacturing and logistics partners as the work requires.
Benefits
- Full-time, based in our New York City office five days per week, with travel to manufacturing and operating partners as needed.
- Cash compensation: $150,000–$200,000.
- Company equity opportunity
