WordPress Developer at JLOOP
JLOOP is a creative agency building unforgettable digital products for enterprise customers world wide.
We're on the hunt for a full-time WordPress Developer employee and teammate. This junior role handles new site builds, content updates, targeted front-end changes, and hands-on troubleshooting, identifying whether issues originate in plugins, themes, or custom code and resolving them within their capabilities.
This role supports a portfolio of approximately 80 and growing WordPress sites across JLOOP and Athena Advisors, including custom themes and sites built with several page builders, like Elementor. The work centers on maintaining and extending existing websites using established designs and client requirements.
You'll collaborate daily with Producers, PMs, designers, and developers to clarify requests, implement changes, verify results, and escalate more complex technical issues.
KEY FOCUS AREAS

- Manipulate and optimize images and other graphics for web use (resizing, cropping, compressing, format conversion) before adding them to a page or build
- Update pages and create content directly in the WordPress dashboard, including adding, replacing, and removing text, modules ,documents and media assets.

- Repurpose approved designs and existing components to build or revise content while preserving established layouts, branding, and user flows.
- Check content accuracy, links, document access, and page layout before marking an update complete.
- Clarify incomplete requests with the PM or Producer and flag work that requires new design direction or more advanced development.
The WordPress Developer turns clear requirements, available design direction, and supplied graphics into new sites, and routine content requests into accurate, consistent updates, across the client website portfolio.
2. Front-End Development and Responsive Behavior
- Read inherited CSS and use browser developer tools to diagnose styling issues and make targeted changes without disrupting other pages.
- Apply intermediate CSS skills and basic HTML knowledge to troubleshoot layouts, spacing, typography, and content presentation.
- Use foundational JavaScript and jQuery knowledge to understand existing behavior, place provided scripts, and verify that they work as intended.
- Add, remove, or modify approved third-party scripts and front-end code according to client specifications.
- Check that layouts and functionality transition correctly across desktop, tablet, and mobile, correcting issues within the assigned scope.
- Coordinate with designers and developers when a change requires a new interaction, custom scripting, or a broader technical solution.
The WordPress Developer makes focused front-end changes that preserve approved designs and work across screen sizes.

- Reproduce WordPress issues and determine whether the cause is a plugin, theme, custom code, or content configuration.
- Understand parent and child theme relationships and investigate theme behavior before applying changes.

- Verify fixes in the appropriate test environment and check affected pages and functionality for unintended changes before release.
The WordPress Developer diagnoses issues methodically, fixes what they can, and gives senior developers clear evidence when escalation is needed.
4. Forms Integrations and SEO Implementation

- Implement provided integration specifications, including form data passed to Salesforce; Salesforce expertise is not required.
- Place and verify supplied Google meta tags and other approved tracking or integration code.
- Implement the marketing team’s SEO instructions using Yoast, including meta descriptions and approved keyword content.

The WordPress Developer translates supplied marketing and integration requirements into working, verified website changes.
5. Uphold Development Standards & Clear Communication
- Follow JLOOP’s established development workflows, documentation practices, and review requirements for assigned WordPress work.
- Stay aligned with Producers and PMs on priorities, scope, timelines, and completion expectations across multiple client sites.
- Report blockers and technical risks early, describing what was found, what has been tried, and where additional expertise is needed.
- Document changes, troubleshooting findings, and verification results so teammates can understand and continue the work.
- Keep relevant code, files, and version history organized according to the project workflow.
- Build deeper knowledge of the portfolio’s themes, plugins, and page builders and share useful troubleshooting lessons with the team.
