Your impact
Location Nationwide — near any Jacobs office
This job opportunity is available at ANY location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a JACOBS U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the "best" candidates.
Your Impact
At Jacobs, we’re transforming how complex facilities are designed, coordinated, and delivered through integrated digital delivery.
As a Senior BIM Specialist, you will be a senior technical contributor within our Digital Delivery organization supporting large, multidisciplinary data center, mission-critical, and advanced manufacturing projects. You’ll combine deep BIM expertise with practical knowledge of engineering design, construction documentation, constructability, and multidisciplinary coordination to help project teams deliver highly coordinated, accurate, and buildable designs.
This is not solely a BIM management or standards position. You will remain hands-on in project delivery, developing and reviewing models and construction documents while providing technical leadership to designers, engineers, and BIM professionals. You may support multiple projects and project scopes simultaneously and will work closely with structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, process, and other disciplines.
You’ll help establish how BIM is executed on projects, solve complex modeling and coordination challenges, drive model and document quality, mentor other team members, and continually improve the tools and workflows used to deliver some of our most technically demanding projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
BIM & Digital Delivery Leadership
- Provide senior-level BIM and Digital Delivery leadership for complex, multidisciplinary data center and advanced manufacturing projects.
- Lead implementation of project BIM standards, workflows, modeling methodologies, and Digital Delivery requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

- Support implementation of applicable BIM and information-management standards, including ISO 19650 principles and requirements, where required by the project.
- Serve as a senior technical resource for project teams in resolving complex BIM, Revit, coordination, interoperability, and model-management issues.
- Partner with Digital Delivery leadership to advance BIM standards, best practices, automation, and continuous improvement.
Hands-On Design & Model Development
- Remain actively involved in the hands-on development, modification, coordination, and review of complex BIM models and construction documents.
- Develop and maintain detailed Revit models based on engineering calculations, design criteria, sketches, markups, design narratives, specifications, and interdisciplinary information.
- Translate engineering design intent into accurate, coordinated, and constructible models, plans, sections, details, schedules, and construction-document packages.
- Develop complex details, assemblies, model components, and Revit families as required by project conditions.
- Work directly with engineers and designers to develop solutions for challenging geometry, equipment interfaces, penetrations, supports, clearances, structural conditions, and other design interfaces.
- Apply practical knowledge of engineering design and construction methods to identify potential constructability and documentation issues.
- Support design development from conceptual and schematic design through detailed design, IFC/construction documents, construction administration, and record-model activities as required.
Multidisciplinary Project Coordination
- Coordinate BIM activities across multiple simultaneous projects, scopes, packages, and design teams.
- Work directly with Project Managers, Design Managers, Engineering Managers, Discipline Leads, engineers, designers, and Digital Delivery professionals to establish and maintain project coordination requirements.
- Coordinate structural and architectural models with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, civil, telecom, security, process, equipment, and other project disciplines.
- Develop, manage, and review federated multidisciplinary models.
- Facilitate or participate in BIM/model-coordination and clash-detection meetings.
- Identify model conflicts, design inconsistencies, incomplete information, spatial constraints, and constructability concerns and work with the appropriate engineering disciplines toward resolution.
- Track coordination issues through resolution and communicate outstanding risks to appropriate project and discipline leadership.
- Coordinate model exchanges and information requirements among internal teams, clients, contractors, vendors, and other project participants where applicable.
- Support coordination of owner-furnished and vendor equipment within complex data center environments.
Data Center Project Delivery
- Support BIM delivery for complex hyperscale, colocation, mission-critical, and advanced manufacturing facilities.
- Coordinate high-density building systems and interfaces typical of data center environments, including structural systems, equipment rooms, electrical infrastructure, mechanical systems, overhead distribution, equipment supports, penetrations, and major utility pathways.
- Support coordination of repetitive building modules, equipment layouts, standardized design elements, and program-level design standards.
- Help project teams manage design changes and maintain model coordination in fast-track environments with overlapping design and construction packages.
- Support phased deliverables and multiple design packages where construction may begin before completion of the overall facility design.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve constructability, installation sequencing, accessibility, maintainability, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Support field and construction teams by assisting with RFIs, design changes, shop-drawing coordination, model-based problem solving, and field coordination as required.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control
- Perform detailed BIM, model, drawing, and documentation QA/QC reviews to verify accuracy, completeness, coordination, and compliance with established project standards.
- Review models and construction documents developed by designers and other BIM professionals.
- Verify that model content accurately reflects engineering intent and approved design information.
- Identify discrepancies between models, drawings, details, schedules, specifications, and multidisciplinary design information.
- Support discipline and project quality processes before formal design submissions.
- Monitor model health, warnings, file performance, links, worksets, coordinates, and other technical model-management considerations.
- Help establish BIM quality metrics and model-checking procedures appropriate for large, complex projects.
- Promote a culture in which BIM quality is integrated into engineering delivery rather than treated as a final production check.
Information & Model Management
- Manage or support federated models and associated project information.
- Support development and maintenance of MIDPs, TIDPs, IFC exchanges, NWC files, coordination models, and other required digital deliverables.
- Manage model federation, linking, shared coordinates, model exchanges, and multidisciplinary coordination processes.
- Support Common Data Environment and document/model-control practices in accordance with project requirements.
- Assist project teams with model versioning, publishing, sharing, archiving, and information-exchange requirements.
- Help ensure BIM deliverables satisfy client, contractual, project, and applicable Digital Delivery requirements.
Technical Leadership & Mentoring
- Provide day-to-day technical direction and mentorship to BIM designers, modelers, technicians, and less-experienced team members.
- Review work, provide constructive technical feedback, and help team members develop stronger BIM, documentation, and coordination capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance to engineers who use Revit and related Digital Delivery tools.
- Develop and deliver BIM training, technical demonstrations, standards guidance, and project-specific onboarding.
- Promote consistent application of BIM standards across geographically distributed project teams.
- Share lessons learned and develop reusable solutions that improve quality and efficiency across projects.
- Serve as a technical liaison between engineering disciplines and Digital Delivery teams.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve BIM workflows through automation, standardization, interoperability, and emerging technologies.
- Develop or contribute to advanced Revit families, templates, libraries, standards, and repeatable project workflows.
- Support interoperability among Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Tekla, Revizto, and other project delivery platforms as applicable.
- Evaluate new BIM and Digital Delivery technologies and recommend practical applications for project teams.
- Support automation of repetitive modeling, checking, data-management, and documentation activities.
