AECOM is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Controls Analyst I to join our growing Program Controls team in San Diego, California. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex capital improvement and infrastructure projects that positively impact communities while building a strong foundation in project controls, cost management, scheduling, and project delivery.

As Project Controls Analyst I, you will support project teams with cost tracking, schedule analysis, forecasting, reporting, and project performance monitoring. Working alongside experienced project controls professionals, you will gain hands-on experience with industry-leading tools, methodologies, and best practices that drive successful project execution.

This position is expected to begin ASAP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project managers and senior project controls staff with project cost forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, and risk analysis.
  • Assist with maintaining project schedules in Primavera P6 and cost data in project management systems such as Primavera Unifier.
  • Analyze project financial data, run reports, review expenditures, and ensure accurate cost coding and compliance with established procedures.
  • Support change management, records of change processing, and earned value management activities.
  • Track project commitments, purchase orders, invoices, and contract expenditures.
  • Assist with project financial closeout activities and performance reporting.
  • Collaborate with construction management teams, contract specialists, and project stakeholders to support project delivery goals.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Due to nature of work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Interest in project controls, scheduling, cost management, financial reporting, and construction project delivery.
  • Previous cost, schedule, or project controls experience, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Experience with project management and controls software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, Oracle Primavera Unifier, E-Builder, PMWeb, Prolog, Procure, Primavera Contract Management, or similar tools.
  • Financial reporting literacy and an understanding of project cost management principles.
  • Professional affiliations or certifications such as AACEI, PMI, CMAA CMIT, or related organizations are a plus.

Additional Information

  • This position will work 5 days a week at the client site.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
